Default Parts needed for Head gasket Swap?

This winter i'm gonna replace my head gaskets and would like to know all the gaskets, bolt, anything i need?

I heard about not being able to re-use stock head bolts? anyone have a part number on the correct ARP head bolts?

Gasket wise, i will more than likely just stay with stock thickness just to be safe, so can anyone give me the part numbers for some different stock thickness gaskets, and which ones you think are the best?

what other gaskets or bolts will i need? I think i need intake manifold gasket, i was planning on puttin long tubes on this winter so i will be pickin up header gaskets and header bolt.

Any other parts i will need? any advice for pulling the heads? this will be my first time doing this so i have a chiltons book for reference and quite a few friends with alot more experience than me.

I used Felpro #1074 Head Gaskets, I had good luck with them.

I used GM headgaskets (0.029 thickness for a tad more compression). Pricey, but great quality and luck with them. You cannot re-use stock GM head bolts, NOR can you use stock head bolts if you go beyond their torque rating (I believe 65lbs) orelse they will stretch, stripping your IRON block - I did this like 4 times on the same block before I realized it was those stupid GM bolts lol, helicoils are your friend). And yes, pick up intake gaskets and ARP head bolts P/N : ARP 234-3701 (link: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...1&autoview=sku)

wow, i didnt realize those would be so expensive, looks like i got some money to save up haha. so i'll need the head gaskets, head bolts, intake gaskets, and anything else?

Lots of Permatex 2 to seal the threads of the bolts. Use formula 2 though because it doesn't harden like the other ones and allows for safe fluxuation without leakage when the motor heats up

did a compression test today and no 7 was only pushin about 90 psi and the rest were about 130. No. 7's plug was also clearly burnt up more than the others. I got the Y-pipe, drivers side manifold off, cant seem to get the very far forward bolt off the passengers side cause of a power steering metal line i believe, any one got any tricks?

either sometime this week or next week ill be taking hopefully the intake manifold off then the heads another day. I got all winter so this will be a fun project.

not fond of manifolds.. when i got my car it had headers and all emissions were deleted, making it easy peasy to work with. good luck man and pm me if u have any further questions

will do 1badzee thanks. I'm headed out to the garage now to get that damn manifold off and possibly get the intake off today and go from there.
