My engine rebuild W/pics Started 11-2-08
Finally got off my *** and spent the weekend in the shop
Should be able to get the block stripped down and to the machine shop in the next week or so. The plan is to just over bore it another .010. I needed to buy some different pistons anyway.

UPDATE 11-9-08
Tore the engine down the cylinder wall scars only feel to be .003 to .005 deep so it will clean up easily.
The bearings on the crank are like brand new, I was glad to see that. The cam bearings show quite a bit of wear though???
One of the pistons was scuffed pretty bad on the skirt. One of the pistons had a piece of the blown spark plug from when my fuel pump went out that beat the piston and head pretty badly. I would not think twice about putting six of those pistons back in.
The the real nutcracker. I pulled the TOP ring off and squared it up in the bore and measured the gap .025
So then I pulled the BOTTOM ring and measured it .030??? So I look at it closer and I can see the word top stamped in the bottom ring!!!!! So I go the next piston and its the same thing. No wonder I always had trouble with excess crankcase pressure!!!.

How many miles or passes are on it since the last rebuild?
I like your giant sawhorse style lift. That is a good idea, I'll have to keep that in mind in case I ever need to pull mine.

I have the pistons off the rods and all the little things done and cleaned up with the engine. I wrap everything in saran wrap. Ill take the block to the machine shop soon. Ill order pistons after they bore it so if i hurry it will be around christmas when I start assembling the motor. I have nine days off so that would be a great time.
I started gutting the interior yesterday. I only have a 5pt cage in the car so its time for an upgrade.
Note to self. Make sure you take the drivers side elect seat out while there is power left in the car. That was a bitch getting the back bolts out. Ill post some more pic's later. Theres snow on the ground and I had a fire in the wood stove all night. The shop is nice and toasty and im going back out. Life is good!

How long did it take to remove the engine/trans using that method? I noticed the front bumper was removed - was this just to make it easier to wrap the chains? The pics are awesome! Good luck with the build!
