Default 1st death in the SS was a good one...

So i just got the SS this passed weekend, and about 30 minutes ago was my 1st race in it.

My SS = Stock (mods in sig yet to be installed)

Terminator Cobra = Unknown Mods (didnt seem to be heavily modded but i know these car's are damn good)

Im driving around on my lunch break from work, already picked up some food. I spot this Cobra come up next to me, but guy seemed really chilled & layed back. So nothing happens at 1st...Then this guy in a Bike (not sure what model) comes flying by. I know im gonna get my *** beat, but figured. I wanna see how the SS responds. So i start to play with him and hit it & of course he spanks me lol Then in my rear view i spot the Cobra coming quickly. He roars by me, then slows it down. So i stay near the Cobra, about a car length behind. We get some free road, and i hear him throw a rev. So im down, i get up next to him. He begins to honk it, and we hit it and he quickly jumps ahead and pulls for a bit. I had a little traction problem, but the car seemed to recover a bit and finally get going. At this point, he's about a car to car 1/2 length ahead and doesnt seem to be gaining anymore untill we hit the brakes and slowed it back down.

Great race, no shame in losing to a Terminator. Im happy how the SS responded though. Now i need some free time and install my mods in sig.

Please read before posting. Nice stay with the snake, im guessing with your mods installed you can pull ahead if ever encountered again.

You have a stock LS1 SS and you had traction problems from a roll?? Also he jumps out a car or car.5 and once you hook up you hold off his pull? Bullshit is strong in this thread.

That doesn't sound like 30mph to me.

Do you just start **** for the fun of it? A stock vert 03-04 Cobra is not any faster than a stock Ls1 on the low end, it might pull a bit up top though.

The Cobra might have started one gear too high. Either way, good race! Let us know how it does once you get the mods on

Aww you know what, **** it. I wasnt referring to their powerband, i was referring to low speed acceleration. At lower speeds, power to weight is what matters and the fact is that a 03-04 vert has nearly the same ratio as a good running stock 6-speed ls1. As speeds increase weight slowly plays its way out of the equation, horsepower wins the highway race and power to weight wins the short run.

actaully torque is what gets you going down low. and a stock cobra will make over 350 ft/lbs at 2krpms. accompany that with better gearing id say the ls1 is at a disadvantage down low.
