Default Do i need swap computers?

ok guys so i have a 383 in my 94 camaro i used to have a T-56 behind it. and the computer was flashed for the 383. but since i blew my trans i bought another car which was automatic. i will post a thread about that lol. now i can either use the comp that is flashed for a 383 M6 or the LT1 A4. there is a difference in an automatic/manual trans right? if so should i use the computer that is flashed for the M6 and manual shift the trans and just wont have OD or should i use the A4 trans and deal with it being out of tune for a lil bit.

You can use a a4 pcm with an m6 but not the other way around, m6 to an a4 will have no shift points, but of course you will get codes and from a4 to m6 you will have to modify for the reverse lock out..

You need to have whoever tuned your 383" reflash it for an A4. Same box, different calibration.

ok just to make sure i understood. i should use the LT1 A4 computer and deal with the motor to not run its full potential. and send out my M6 to get it reflashed to run a A4 or do i need to send out my A4 and get it tuned for a 383?

You could send either, the end result will be the same.

It's probably not in your engine's best interest to try to drive around using a stock tune.
Just send the PCM off for reprogramming and wash/wax the car while you wait

you really dont want to use the stock tune...you would get lucky if it even ran lol.....just get ahold of a tuner and see what he can do for you....your a4 comp will work you just might blow your gauges fuse so you wont have gauges and most likely you wont have backup lights either... just get ahold of a tuner and see what he can do for ya

IF you would of bought the stuff to tune it yourself (which is cheap on a 94) you could of fixed this problem on your own

There is really no fast way to do it, your going to have to wait for your pcm to be tuned. your not going to beable to find a pcm that you can just put in your car...who sells a pcm with the same mods you have done to your car?

They won't charge $600 for a simple update.
Maybe $100 or $150 at the most. (more likely less)
Give em a call.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than ruining a new motor.
The cost of the updated tune is part of the cost of the project, sorry man.
At the very worst, it should fit into the "pad" you set aside for "what ifs" .... you did set aside some extra cash, right?

To sum it up for you
-A4 and M6 PCM is the same, just different programming
-Your 383 tuned PCM will work after you have it adjusted for an A4
-PCM4Less will update it for that for much cheaper than a new flat-out tune. If you know a local dyno place, they might be nice enough to flash it for you if PCM4Less emailed you the tune file. You could then have it done in a matter of hours. You COULD drive your car there (assuming it's not extremely far) on that factory tune if you took it easy. It would be like if you were in Limp Mode. You don't want to be rough on the car when it's in Limp Mode (not that you can haha). It would at least allow you to drive and not blow out the transmission.
-Listen to Ed Wright He tunes for a living (or well, for extra income/hobby heh)
