Default Mass Inspections

Just moved here and have some questions:

1) Can you pass inspection with a speed density tune? The GTO doesn't have a MAF in it.

2) Anyone know the best station to go to near Waltham? Feel free to PM.

Thanks

As long as it is not throwing codes you should be good.

It has to throw a code with no MAF. I've heard conflicting stories that they only check Readiness codes. It won't show the CEL light because I turned it off, just the code.

I don't think you understand. You can't just delete an 0101, 0102, or 0103 and have the car in speed density. If you know of a way to have a speed density tune without throwing those codes, I'd love to hear it.

Codes have to be reported or it won't go into speed density. Not an option.

Do you know if Speedy still has a maf in his car? I could do it if I still had MAF in the car I think, but not without one. That's the hard part.

I'll follow up with both of them. Thanks. Get your tranny sorted out? If you still need a hand let me know.

With the correct SD tune you should only throw the 101 code. You delete the engine light part BUT you will not pass the system ready check without the right codes deleted or bypassed.

So,if you have a basic SD tune from someone that doesn't deal with emissions then more than likely your car will not pass the ready test.

Yes,it can be tuned to pass with the MAF in the trash.I have alot of cars tuned like that.

Hey Sean. I replied to your PM on the other board.

But yes unless you delete or bypass the certain codes spoken about you will get "Not Ready" for a couple things at the inspection station. Don aka Slowhawk has it figured out and my car passed no problem once he took care of the codes. At the time the MAF was still in the car but not connected, just restricting the air flow a bit. It was replaced at the beginning of the race season with a piece of 3.5 exhaust tubing so the MAF sits in a box, on the shelf in my basement! All is well otherwise!

Hey thanks guys. The answer I was looking for is the DTC won't fail you as long as it's setup right and the Readiness checks are good which they are.

Thanks
