Default 255lph fuel pump in stock 1971 fuel tank

Is it possible to put a 255lph fuel pump in a stock tank of a 1971 camaro.
I was wondering if installing an external pump would suffice? Is it safe to do on a weekend car? What modifications are needed to use an external fuel pump?

I have seen complete tanks for sale I'm begining to feel this may be the only way to go. Just looking to find out what my options are.

This build is on a budget so I'm trying to compare cost to time to reliability.

This will be a stock bottom end car with h/c hoping for upwards of 420rwhp (ls1/4l60e)

Tanks Inc makes universal pump kits for EFI swaps. Give me a call I can help you with a complete system to compliment it.
