Thumbs up New: Edelbrock Splayed Valve Head

I found this item in a recent New Products release from Edelbrock:

VICTOR PRO-PORT RAW LS SERIES HEAD
FOR GM GEN III & IV LS SERIES ENGINES
This head is designed to maximize the potential of GM’s race oriented LSX block. It is also
compatible with all previous versions of the engine, though the extra head bolt provisions cannot be
used. The true canted valve design offers the utmost in port flow and combustion efficiency possible
with a two valve design. The head uses the GM SB2 valve cover footprint required by the added
width of the canted valve layout. The stock exhaust bolt pattern is retained. Like all Edelbrock Pro-
Port Raw heads, they will require professional preparation, including CNC porting to the port design
of choice. Seats and guides are included but not installed.
Victor Pro-Port Raw for GM Gen III & IV LS Series (bare) .................................................. ....#77049
It's still in development with a release date within 90 days after the recent SEMA show. I believe a portion of the head's design is based on the Ford SC-1. This is definitely going to stretch the potential of the larger displacement LS engines.
Nice work guys.

Default New: Edelbrock Splayed Valve Head

ET Performance has had a canted valve for LS engines out for some time now. Is Edelbrock's head similar?

price will be 6-800 per head and a good bit of work has to be done to them to make them ready to run

Even after some professional work these could be relatively affordable . How long before a rocker system is available ? Will standard lifters be used ? Richard , normally you provide enough info to satisfy , I'm still hungry . I really like the test you performed on the Fiber Runner Intake .

define relatively affordable..have to pay for castings, guide/seat work, cnc on a pro port head and valves, springs etc...not going to be cheap

I'm afraid I don't have much more info to go on at this point. I was merely reading through a New Products release and saw the above posted paragraph and thought I'd share the news here. I'm sure they're going to try to have a sample on display at PRI however that's just speculation on my part. Edelbrock's company policy is to have products in production within 90 days of the rollouts at SEMA. Obvoiusly not everything makes it, but they are getting better at meeting those deadlines. For now, we'll just have to wait until the PRI show.

The next big question is "what intake will fit these heads"?

If we look at the head as an evolution of a Yates, it's possible some of the Cup manifolds may be a good start. You've probably got some ties at Edelbrock Dave Stinson is mine. Perhaps they can tell you what they had in mind when they designed it. Noting they kept the factory exh. location, tells me they have an eye on the intake as well.

We need to plop down a set of Edelbrocks, the All Pro's, and the ET's and have a measuring session. I'd like to build a boxxed forging for these badboys....DLC pins...the whole Shebang.

These look pretty interesting. The price is going to go up rather quickly though once CNC work gets involved. Then you'll need some custom rockers and quite possibly other things that we aren't aware of. I'll be interested to see what comes out of these. There's a lot of LSx product hitting the market now that have caught my interest.

If its going to be anything like edelbrocks SC1 head, cup manifolds will probably not work because how high the port is located. Im sure they'll be developing a manifold for it as we speak. They should just make it similar to their GV2 head...probably the best SBF head they make..imo
