Default Question on spring loaded tensioners

I have a SDCE tensioner setup on my car, and I believe I am the third owner of it. It has been in my car for a few years... Is there a way that I can test the tensioner to see if it is properly working? It does give tension, but I am not sure if its enough. Do spring loaded tensioners progressivly give out less and less tension with time? Or will they either work, or not work? Thanks

How old is the belt? Did you get the little tool from sdce to adjust the tension? I have noticed my sdce tensioner needs to have a little adjustment as the belt gets older. All of the experience I have with spring tensioners has been they work or the spring gets seized and you cant even move it at all.
