Default 3.73 to 3.42s -- big difference?

I have a motive performance 3.73 .. and I think the cut on the gear is bad because at high speeds there is a TERRIBLE vibration .. so bad it broke my tailshaft in half at 120mph.

i was told that the most likely cause of the vibration would be the gear .. so i'm going to start troubleshooting.

my friend has a gm 3.42 gear that i thought about switching to ..

will there be a big difference in my ET? i do want more top speed than 110 .. and with this setup i have now i'm afraid to hit 100 because i don't want to kill anything else.

TIA

Your ETs will hardly know the difference...especially if you have a good TQ converter.

So what do you think is causing the vibration? The cut on the gear? All bearings and everything were replaced when I had the gear put in .. and the guy who did it has an excellent reputation.
