Steel would be fine for a street car. You'll probably just need an install kit with it... Usually a complete install kit comes with all new bearings, seals and shims. Spools arent known for being very street-friendly though. I have one in my car and I am going back to a posi as soon as I can get it rebuilt. Tight corners are a pain with a spool, in your run of the mill stoplight or stopsign corner, you'll notice it may be a little harder to turn or you'll feel and hear the car jerking as one tire or the other slips. Long corners are no big deal though, shouldnt even notice it.

Do some figuring though, if it would cost the same or even a tick more to rebuild the diff you have, I advise going that route, since your car is a street car. Some people may not mind driving with a spool, and I thought I wouldnt either, but after having mine for a little bit I'm ready to go back to a posi.

I'm wondering the same thing as I apparantly have a damaged truetrac in a 9 inch that I bought recently. What about going to a locker?

Make sure you have some hard compound tires, or an extra set for when you are just driving around. Cause it eats them up good.. Especially if you do a lot driving in the city.
