humbled some hondas....
This story is actually a couple of months old, but I figured the board would like to hear it.
So one day, I am in Little Rock, AR and I am cruising around with my friends in their mustang and TA. I pull up to what could only be described, as a casting call to Fast and the Furious 4, and lope in there as quietly as I can (as quietly as a car with a 240 duration cam can be). I get out and just walk around, looking at the different rides, and talking with the guys about their turbos and the such.
Well, a group of them pull up, and these things are just HISSING, big freakin turbos, and the flimsiest bumper covers on a car that I have ever seen outside of a salvage yard. They park in a line, get out, and start talking about their swaps, popping the hood, and everyone runs over to check out this Del Sol.
K swap, Big Garrett Turbo, HKS goods, custom plumbing, funny car style fuel system...lol. the works. Car is GUTTED. Seats, guages, and a conversation are the only things occupying this cabin. looked to have a bit of suspension work, and such, but really didnt pay too much attention. Did have drag radials though...
Car number 2: Civic hatch. practically the same type of motor work, but done on a B series. A lot nicer fit and finish, but not as impressive on the money maker area....
they talk about racing on the interstate, and everyone jumps into their cars and Brrraaaaapppps down the road. I follow them, and start making my way up to the front....
We finally get to a huge straight section, and they start lining up.. I decide I would "moderate" the race, and force myself in between them, immediately entering myself into their race. They see a silver, "pretty" Trans Am, and grin from ear to ear, thinking they are going to make a fool of every one of my "325" horses...
the civic hatch is on my left, and the Del Sol is on my right... we are at about 45 miles an hour, and the civic hatch does the honking... I am in 3rd gear and am ready to dump the bastard into 2nd... they never knew what hit em.
2nd horn honks, I begin clutching, and dump it into gear at the third honk, and immediately fire in front of them, violently grab 3rd, and pull them hard. The civic hatch blows a charge pipe, effectively taking himself out of the race, and the del sol is about 1 car behind me, losing fast. by the top of 4th, I am about 140 or so and he they are all stunned. We pull into another lot, and everyone is wanting to know whats up with that little LS1.
Pop the hood, they are expecting the bottle, nope. Every one of those guys were made a believer of the mighty 347... fun times.. btw, the Del Sol raped an LS2 vette the same night....
