98-02 brake conversion?

I can get a whole rearend at the local yard for $400 and I bought my first one for $350. You could probably do the same and have everything you "may" need. I think they mainly have better PBR calipers and thicker rotors.

everything from the steering knuckle out (including the knuckle)
the later model brakes have a bracket that holds the pads in that bolts to the knuckle, then the unloaded caliper bolts to the previosuly mentioned bracket.
compared to the LT1 stuff, that you load the brake pads in to the caliper, and bolt it on to the knuckle, similar to any other domestic vehicle built before the 90's.
the LS1 brakes are a little bigger in OD and I think they are thicker, and the calipers are aluminum dual piston units, rather than the old-school cast iron single piston crap... just by reading this you can imagine how much better they will help your car stop, and reduce fading when you're really hard on 'em too.

Yes, like the someone already said, you'll need spindles, brake lines, rotors, calipers, pads, brackets. Most guy's have their for sale for about 200 bucks in the used section, great upgrade for the price!

[QUOTE=chavez885;10569737]Rearend? I'm sure he's talking about front brakes, and the rear brakes on LS1 cars are no better than ours.
I get it now, just trying to help. I just hate watching those rears go to waste. I am only familiar with pirating the newer Camaro brakes for old 12/10 bolt rear muscle cars. Isn't there a difference in rear calipers between the 97s and 98s though?

Not the rear, they are single piston calipers
Gonna have to disagree. The LT rear brakes incorporate there parking brake setup through your existing pads and rotors, where the LS1 uses a seperate pad (Mini brake drum setup inside the rotor) it holds 10x better and last alot longer.
The abs is no different between cars. The axles are longer on LS1 rears but no different between 3 channel & 4 channel.
You can swap rear-end between 93-97 & 98-02 without any worries as long as the rear supports your kind of abs system.
