'69 Chevelle SS rear good for me?
My brother's garage just burnt down a week or so ago. In it he was finishing a '69 Chevelle SS that never got finished. The garage burnt to the ground along with the car, my question is this. Is the rear any good? It wasn't melted or misshapen, what do I need to look for? Also, will it fit on my 02 SS? It's a 12 bolt, is it something I should consider?

AAArgh!!! Not a '69!!! I have one of those! What a shame to lose both your home and your Chevelle.
To answer your questions,
1st, it depends on how hot the rear got. The tubes would start to permanently deform above 600 degrees, maybe sooner. The only way to tell would be to take it to a place that has a jig and can check the straightness of the tubes.
2nd, the rear is a different length than the camaro's and all the mounting brackets are different, not to mention the lack of a torque arm mount. You're better off getting a custom rear most likely. Sell the 12-bolt to somebody that needs it for their A-body.
