Default Great now I think they are really noisy

Is this normal? I mean damn I did them a full turn this time, I think they make more racket then ever! Please watch vid: Excessively noisy?

OK I had done new lifters, should I adjust again now that they have been ran? They sat in oil for a few days, but it seems that just lubricates them, not pump them up I've been told.

Also just took it around a few blocks. Temp gauge fluctuated like I had air bubbles, even though it had been fine when I parked it two weeks ago? Coolant also came out of the overflow cap??

If those are promags then it's normal, but if it was quieter before, readjust and call it good. Promags are noisy. If you can find a set of lt4 valvecovers, thay will dampen the rocker noise alot.

Do they make more noise now than they did with less preload? I've played with my Pro-Mags alot and I just finally allowed myself to realize that they are just plain noisy. Nothing like my old Self-Aligning Magnums that I was used to. Like said above you could pick up some LT4's to keep the noise in but they do not come cheap. You could also pick up some aluminum valve covers on ebay like I did that will run you about $90 and will help keep some of the noise in.

The sound of when they are loose is noticibly different than the sound when they are at zero lash which is evident when adjusting the valves with the motor running and yours sound alot like mine and not like they are loose.

Sounds to me like it just needs valve adjustment. Try to set them while motor is warm( don't burn yourself) set at zero lash then 1/4 turn.

Years ago when I had one loose I could actually hear it inside the car. I know they go clack clack pretty bad when it gets loose loose, I guess I was wondering how it was sounding there at idle, revved with no load. Two people who say I'm good, but the really fast guy thinks I should look them over again. I'm going to have someone listen to them in person who has done a ton of motors, see what he says.

Except for the coolant issue I have to look at tomorrow it seemed to run alright, but I didn't have it over 3500 or so cruising around the neighborhood.

I have that same problem and have adjusted the lash countless times ranging from 1/8 to 3/4 turns on my LS7 lifters. I narrowed it down to just a few cylinders that do it, I am not sure why thought. I guess I have to adjust those more than the others.

Hmm they are SA Promags with new LS7 lifters. I'm just hoping I won't have issues like I had been having, then again several people I talked to agreed I was spinning the hot cam too high, so I won't be seeing above 6200 anymore. Error on my part, getting rid of my 4.10s though and going back to 3.42s.

I meant to ask too, is there a break in period for the new lifters?

Roller lifters dont need a break in period, they dont have much friction on them like soild lifters.

After driving around today I decided they def. needed adjustment AGAIN. So for the 5th time I screwed with them, at least now the lifters were pumped up and the motor was still warm. I'm going for a drive later maybe see how it is, or tomorrow.

Does it sound like all of them are ticking or just a few of them?

All of them. Perhaps this is what happens with a larger than stock cam(it's just a hotcam) and double springs, running the cranes 1080 or whatever number they were.

All I know is with the stock cam and replacement single comp cams springs I thought the motor was really quiet with these rockers, perhaps its just the combination of the parts I'm running now?

Seems to be running strong, going to drive it some more tomorrow to get a opinion on its running state. Also tomorrow afternoon I hope I will be swapping in a 3.42 equipped 10 bolt, getting rid of the 4.10 equipped 10 bolt, tired of the howling.
