I cant decide. MT 275/40/17 or Nitto 315/35/17
I know the MTs hook up better but will the size of the nittos outweigh the grip of a 275 MT DR????

M/T's bro. My 255 M/T's dead hooked for me pulling 1.6 '60's so I don't think you will have any issues. The only upside for the Nitto's IMO is that they last alot longer on the street but for the track they don't even compare to the M/T's. I know you don't put many miles on the car so I wouldn't bother with the Nitto's if I were you.

M/T for sure

Even though the nittos are wider they won't hook anywhere near as good as the mickeys, I'd only get nittos if you put alot of street miles on the car!

315's in the nitto are about the same size of the 275 m/t and the m/t are much more superior in traction :)

I worked at a rim shop and I always thought that the nitto's looked thinner than they the same size tire of other brands.

from what guys are saying, it seems as thouh the M/T are the better drag radial for traction. but i would think that the nitto drag radial would be better for daily driving and tread life.

MTs it is!! I have a set of 315 Nittos on a spare set of rims I use at the track but they are at the wear tread depth line now and need some need stickies for the LTXshootout.
I dont drive the car that much at all so Im gonna get the MTs and just mount them to the stock rims. When they wear out Ill get some new ones. Car will probably only see 1500 miles a year if its lucky and most of them 1/4 mile at a time.

Everyone put hit it on the nose. I have the nitto in that size. They hook fine for mine old setup which was slow. Hopefully they will hang with the added mods. But ya MT's unless you DD too much.

hey thanks man!!! im probably gonna go with the nitto dr for when i do get my rim/tire setup because it is a daily driver.. now if i was going to the track every weekend or every month, then i would go for the M/T.

If it were my DD I would also use nittos. The 315s fit nice without BFHing the wheel wells.
Since its not my dd and the MT 275 hook just as good even though its a smaller size (or so they claim) then the Nittos thats what Im going to do.

I run the 315/35/17 Hoosier DR on the street.. IMO, its the stickiest tire for a street application, but sux hard core in the rain as you can imagine.

where can you get that 315 Hoosier DR?

Hoosier, MT, M&H and then Nitto. Honestly I havent heard many people happy with the Nittos that have run a Hoosier/MT before.
MT's arent bad for mileage, depends on how you drive. I ve been running them for a couple months now and they have barely worn at all, they will get me through till summer when I can get Hoosiers.

Use to run BFG drag radials years ago---they were one of the first to offer drag radials to the market back then. Now, with MT's, I never look back. Best drag radials,IMO.

Car made 413/366 N/A at the tires on the dyno with Dana S60 rear. I think it still has some more it in too.
Im going to buy some drag rims and throw some MTs on those for the track and run the Nitto's on the street.
I also ran The BFGs when they came out and hated them compared to the Nittos.

I'm going to get the Nitto 555 dr's and currently running Michelin pilot sports(hook like crap) in back 295/35/18 and 275/40/17 in front. Everyone is saying the Nitto's run small? What size would i go with to match the same specs as the Michelins? I was also told to go with the Nitto 555 competitions in the front for street driving, that the DR's are a little squirrely on the front in the rain? I don't drag but looking for a better gripping tire.

AChotrod

YOU DONT EVER PUT DRs IN THE FRONT!. JUST THE REAR! Put the road race tires on the front.

MT DR come in a 315-35-17 size also. HOOSIER is a 335-35-17. I switched from the Nitto to the MT, But they wernt on back order at the time. When these wear out Ill try the M&Hs

AChotrod

I wouldnt put the 315 MTs on I would have gone with the 275s. The nittos run small so i went with the 315s heres some pics.

I think the 315 nittos look badass on 9-9.5 wheels. They dont have to much bulge!

12-28-2008, 09:52 PM
^ not the smartest thing to do though...

AChotrod
12-29-2008, 03:36 PM
I dont recommend it since the manufacturer doesnt, but if they dont bulge anymore than a MT or BFG 275 I dont see how they could possibly be more dangerous in anyway!

Now the guy that did it to his stang with 17x8s is just asking for trouble. Hell Maybe I am too but this is my second set on this size rim and I never had any type of issue period.

Again I am not telling anyone this is ok to do. Just showing you how they look.

Auto or m6? An auto can get away with a radial even a nitto but if your a m6 good luck and dont think you will get better than a 1.7 60 foot if your lucky on a radial with decent power.
