Default What a great night...

So parked my car to talk to some friends tonight and one of them wanted me to ride in his cobra and we were pulling back to where my car was and there was a puddle of antifreeze under my car...

I checked everything and limped the car home, pull in the garage and it dumps it out again...it seems only to run out after i shut off the car. Is it the water pump?

Are you able to see where its wet under the car? What you last do to the car before it started dumping coolant.

One of my buddy's had a similar problem on his 97 Z28, found out at the end it was the afermarket radiator, the radiator where the hose goes over it wasnt sealing it properly.

It could be your water pump. Cant say for sure with out seeing pic under there.

pics would be helpful. My guess is it could be coolant hose, or cracked radiator but since u said it leaks after u shut the car off I would say the coolant levels might be too high ! The same thing happened to me and it poured out the reservoir every time I shut the engine off !

mine did that once and the radiator cap wasnt on tight and the residual pressure built and it leaked some coolent. i freaked out and checked everything. waited for it to cool went to fill it, checked the cap and sure enough it was loose. just a thought.

I say after parking up, pop hood and watch for where leak comes from. If you have a lot of air in the system it can burp out reservoir as well. If you overfill it, it can also come out that way.

that is a definite concern. OPTI's dont like coolant much (or even moisture).

That's why I recommend to everyone doing an Opti, they replace their water pump, or at the very least put a drain line on the weep hole. Either by gluing a barbed fitting in it, or drill and tapping it and screwing a barbed fitting it. That way WHEN it finally goes, it'll **** out where you routed that drain line too

Maybe your overflow reservoir cracked. I had a wrecked F body that didn't leak any coolant until it got hot enough and built pressure in the coolant system. It would start releasing it into the reservoir and just leak out.

see what side its coming out of, it could simply be the resivoer under the battery has a leak, or like stated above the cap could be bad, i doubt its the water pump, cuz if it was leaking in anyway shape or for form the car would have a steady leak, or obvious signs.
