Default have you ever made a home made gun (AR lower or other)

just wondering if we have any home gunsmiths here. I am considering trying to make a AR lower.

have you ever made a home made gun of any type? tell us about your home gunsmithing projects.

if can be that or any point in the process of making a gun. basicly have you built a gun with doing more than just buying the parts and putting it togeather?

I built an ak using a reciever blank. Bent it, welded it, used a parts kit, heat treated the reciever and assembled it.

Unlike an AK you are not going to be able to build an AR in your garage, unless you happen to have a CNC machine available to you. When people talk about "building" an AR, they mean getting the parts and assembling the rifle.

that is not what I am refering to here. you can build a lower in your garage with a manual mill or drill press.

you can buy unfinished lowers (they are not recievers yet so no need for an FFL trasfer) and finish them yourself.

Milling a reciever from a blank is very doable but just requires some skills with a mill or a bridgeport. If you are feeling crafty go for it. It has been done by mant others. If they can do it, so can you!

LOL let me know how it goes. I have a rock river lower in my hands. If you can build some thing like it you are a god and make all of the parts fit from other manufacturers. I dont thing you will be able to do so.

did you read the links i posted. you buy 80% done lowers and the proper jigs and there are instructions that guide you through the process.

I just got an email abotu the cost of the 80% lowers and they are 127 each. I was hoping they would be less than a stripped lower but I may get one anyways for the fun of it.
