Default Oil Pressure Questions ... Info Needed

Just wondering what people are reading as oil pressure with their mods. I am particularly interested in people with solid roller setups.

I have recently converted over to a solid roller setup. When my oil gets up to temp (over 170*), my pressure definitely drops. Right now, I am running dino 5w30. Cruising I only see mid to low 20's.

Obviously, no pressure is bad. Is there really "safety" in 30psi vs 20psi?

BTW, I did install a new ported oil pump (twice because the damn o-ring came off).

I'll ask it this way: How low of oil psi are you willing to accept at idle with 200* oil temp? What about cruising at 2k rpm?

Thanks.

Wow, that does seem pretty low for cruising. At idle, 20-25psi is perfectly fine, and I beleive the GM spec is 8psi at idle minimum, but for cruising at 2k I'd want more than 20psi not because it'd be safer, but just because I'd know something isnt wrong. What does it put out at 3 and 4k rpms? The pressure goes up a lot right?

I have not really taken it much over 3k rpm. I am just trying to do a decent break in for my whole new setup (including gears). The pressure definitely goes up as rpm's increase. I will give it a run this afternoon and let you know.

So if only rises to say mid 30's to 40 under WOT, do I have a problem? Is it related to my solid setup in any way? I have not heard of solid's having any oiling problems.

Thanks.
