read the damn cam sticky.....i spent months and months researching my cam if you really want something to fit your application buy some books, educate yourself.

and yes the widely accepted dd cam is the TR 224 which you wouldve found out if youd read the cam sticky

how big of a stall do you want to run? Do you plan on rebuilding your trans to handle more rpm?

There are bigger and faster combo's out there, but I'm pretty happy with my set up. It has gobs of torque and is VERY street friendly. You can make the same peak numbers with a cam only, but not the area under the curve. The car is fun on the street and on a road coarse. I didn't plan it to be a drag car thus I concentrated on torque not peak hp.

Your 3.73 gears would also be a perfect compliment to the comination below.

I hope this gives you some food for thought.

good luck.

Good set Stage 2 5.3L heads for more compression, smaller port volume for more dd torque along with a cam in the 222-228 range. Maximize your SCR, DCR and quench and you will have what you are looking for. Being an A4 save enough $$ to change your stall.

you will need to match your stall/cam to get a good combination. for DD people have different opinions. some people only swear by a 224/224 cam others say go bigger. no doubt that it is all in the tuning for sure!

nothing call best... how much mony you put is how much HP you gain .
so... how much you intend to spend ???
like im gonna spend below 1100$ then i would go for a set of patriot stage2 LS6 style package it would work strong as DD and street performance .
but if im putting like 2500$ then i would go for as cast heads like TRICKFLOW pacakge or AFR 205cc or even dart it doesnt matter ,whats matter here is your budget and lots of REASEARCH...

First thing we do is look at your goals and budget.

I see that you not really concerned on the HP so we'll concentrate on the budget for now. How do you have to spend?...LOL\

From there we can determine the best course of travel.

Of the top of my head AFR and a cam ground to your car's specs would be the first thing to look at, TFS maybe next as they are little more money.
IF the money is the other way then we look at ported OEM heads.

This info will be very valuable but for now I will say a 228/230 cam,afr 205 heads, and a 3600 stall.

well my mechanic that did my whole exhaust, rearend, and tune said we should do ported 5.3 heads with big valves. i just need a good stall and the right cam to match.

my budget is half and half with my dad, because i bought the car from him and he wants a part of the project. so right now no set budget is determined, im just hoping to get some knowledge on good packages that will make power and still be reasonable in price. so thats why i ask for ideas. i was looking at afr and trickflow...

I'll shoot you a pm

The AFR's and TFS are proven performers. The 5.3's arent bad but the premium heads are more money for a reason. Its more than just putting big valves in them.
