Default '00 Vette v/s 08 TB SS

Was just coming back from getting a little dinner and came up to a 2000 vette. I know that because that was his plate, lol. Anyways I come up to him, speed limit is 70. Well we go from a 70 roll and side by side until he starts backing out around 115-120ish. I never had a chance to look over to see if it was A4 or M6 but am thinking I never saw him shift at all. So it was most likely a A4. If it was an M6 I would have most likely been inched away from. But has me happier than hell though. First big win with the Trailblazer, didn't think I would fair that well. I have taken 2 LT1 camaros out though from a roll with it, but the vette just put the icing on the cake. Thanks for reading guys.

Love the damn thing, not to many people know what they are. Not the best on gas though of course, but what SUV is lol. I keep looking for parts for it, but then I keep thinking about the 5year warranty on the drivetrain. Ehhhh, I guess I have the 99 TA for that Would love to put a Magnussen on it though. Awesome truck, it is only RWD. Didn't split for the AWD to save a couple pennies on gas, and saves weight

same here man, i catch myself looking for stuff for the TBSS, but then think about that warranty. i want a radix for it, especially after losing to a cherokee srt8. mines 2wd too most people don't realize how great the 2wd's launch, mine has ripped off 4.6 0-60 with my dash-hawk.

It is suprising what 400hp and 4.10s in a A4 will do for a 5000+lbs truck

congrats on the kill.. word of advice, race from a slower speed.. we drive "bricks" they get considerably SLOWER as the needle climbs.. lol

seen that 4.6 0-60 to.. then i got the converter and i don't know what the 0-60 is now, but it picked up .4+ in the 1/4....

What does a stock TBSS trap? Kinda hard to see it beating a LS1 vette from a high roll like that..

First off i wanna say i love the TBSS's! they are seriously the best performance SUV GM has made since the Typhoon.

Secondly, i find it hard to believe a Brick SUV kept up with a LS1 vette which are pretty aero dynamic.

not calling BS, just saying there is some factor that we arent seeing in this equation, like the guy hit a dead spot for the A4, or wasnt 100% full throttle, might have been 99% but not the full 100%.

just something not sitting right knowing a SUV that isnt even 10:1 Weight/HP ratio, beat a vette that is 10:1 roughly and has much better aero dynamics.

that says it all right there, mine only has a few bolt ons, and it did wonders, but im not the OP. taking out the TM and firming up the shifts made such a night and day difference. people tell me a converter will also make huge improvements. it doesn't seem logical what these trucks do, but they do it. its that LS2 and those 4.11 gears, and they squat like hell, great grip.

But he said he was completely stock. I'm not familiar with them so want to get some typical numbers for a stock one..

true, mine bone stock, i didn't like too much, way too quiet. i wouldn't think a bone stock tbss would run better than a high 13. maybe the vette was just playing, but i don't want to take the wind out of the OP's sails.

Is your TBSS faster than your red WS6? The reason I ask is I highly doubt a stock 01 T/A could take a stock 00 Vette. I know certain things would make it interesting.... Auto/manual trans and rear gearing.

If the answer is no to your WS6 being faster than a 00 Vette you're telling me your TBSS is faster than a stock F-body from 70-110?

I too wonder about this kill. Not doubting that you pulled on the vette just wondering about the vette's state of tune. I love the tbss and have been trying to get my wife to buy one (she wants an escalade) but I've been at the track with a few of these and bone stock they usually run mid to low 14s. I think a bone stock 2000 model vette will run around a 13 flat @ 108 to 110 mph.

I am not one to bullshit and be skeptical. I have beaten vettes including a A4 C6 in the WS6. But that isn't the topic, believe what you want. And yes the TBSS feels just as fast as the WS6. Just like the old Dakota R/T's once you get the momentum going to the things they take off. Think this, put 4.10s in a stock A4 WS6/SS with an LS2 and add +/-1000 lbs. Do you still think it would be quick? Think what you want, I'm pretty sure I know what WOT sounds like in a LS series motor...
