Default 2000 5.3 swap to 2008 5.3 help

I am picking up a 2008 5.3 & trans Saturday to put in my wife's 2000 Yukon. I am getting the computer and wires for the motor with it. Is this a simple plug and play or is there going to be surprises? Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks Rod

dont think its going to be so easy. 2008s use a different type of data communication between the modules. The 2000 uses the class 2 serial data communication system and the newer ones use the gm high and low speed LAN communication system. completely different from each other. I think you are going to have all kinds of body control problems. I think you can still make it work but its going to take some research and programming. probobly not plug and play tho

Thank you for the reply. Is there anyone that I can call to see about programing or wiring harness? Rod

OK here's one thing I found. Lingerfelter makes a computer that links the 24 tooth to the 58 tooth. Now with that said the guy could not tell me if that was all I needed.

I saw the part today at the PRI Show small box with 4 plugs cam in cam out, crank in crank out. SDPC had it in their booth. You also need an extension for the knock sensors, which they have. I know I'm talking to myself (LOL) but someone may need the infor. one day. Rod

The cam is different as well the sensor is 4x vs 2x. Might have to swap the cam sensor as well or the cam.
