i want to make descent power but i dont want the hassle of having to remount my accesories and **** w/ that. thats why im kinda of leaning away from the 370 6.0. I can find an ls1 block and build that for fairly cheap im guessing and make close to 500 rwhp. i know i can make crazy power out of the 370 too. which one do you guys think would be a better choice?

i guess im looking for the easiest meathod. if i make 480 rwhp and have 70lbs less weight on the front of the car its kind of a wash if im making 530 w/ the extra weight. Im sure i can find an ls1 block or shortblock for pretty cheap. the machine work wont cost me much eaither.
i just want to basically swap motors and not have to **** around w/ anything...
i would probably be putting something along the lines of an ms4, t-rex, or polluter in the new motor...

your going to have more tq with the bigger cubes ...and tq is more important than hp from the dig ...500 is tough on a 346 and keeping it streetable ..if you go with a 402 ci with the 6.0 block with the right setup through a t56 you'll be in the 500 rwhp and 460-470 rwtq .
thats what i did ,you get big heads and cam (bigger than a ms4 ) you'll be in the mid 500's
so yes its worth it to go a little bigger

Depends on what you future plans for your car are. If you use the car mostly for a street strip toy and want to add some nitrous I would go with an LQ4 370. If your worried about handling and the extra 70 lbs and really don't plan on getting serious with nitrous stay with the LS1. You will have a lot more choice with the heads on the 370 if you decide to up grade in the future. The differences in the accessories is like one bolt hole and when most people do the lq4 swap they don't even worry about drilling that hole. Other than that it is an exact swap. We did the lq4 swap on my last camaro and when I get ready to build a motor for this camaro I will do the same thing. It will be either a 370 or I will step up a little and do the 408.
If you plan on making 500 rwhp N.A. on a 346 it going to be hard to do. You might want to shoot for around 450-460 rwhp.

Go with the 370, it only requires one boss to be drilled out and tapped. And even that is debateable. The extra weight is not a penalty if you select the right parts. My LQ4 swap had the exact same ET and Trap speed as my LS1 did one month earlier, but with less CR.

my lil 346 did 490 rwhp 445 rwtq. The other 10 rwhp could've been had by bumping the compression a bit more. However I didn't want to take any chances with detonating some 93 octane fuel that wasn't up to par so to speak. Some stations around here don't have "good" 93 octane gas. Thats why I stick with Mobil, Amoco, or Shell. None of the "el cheapo" stations like Valero or Firebird.
