Default My 2008 Build

Going to do this one more time - I swear this will be the last one.

Last race weekend of the year was good and bad. Good some more 8's; bad a lot of broken parts. 50+MPH head wind took off the rear bumper and driver's side front fender. And to top it off, one of the Turbo's decided to snap its shaft. Didn't hurt the engine but 1 of the turbos is garbage (I have the 2nd 1 up for sale).

Coming hopefully this spring: from the present 408ci; to a 370ci. From twin T-67's to a single 106MM. Finally a total paint job. Leaning towards the cyber gray/08 Vette gray. A few more goodies but nothing dramatic. And yes in one of the pictures is a double fuel rail. We'll be running 16 injectors (8 1000cc; 8 1600cc ) The SS will be running E-98 next year. The car is not built for any one class - just built to run

All fabrication and entire build will be done by my sponsor.

Here's a couple of the pictures:

Funny, very funny. Been retired from the Navy since January 1993.

Thanks everyone. The build is coming along. Projected finished not later than March. A couple car shows and than to the track by mid-April.

Looks good! How in the heck did the 50 mph headwind rip off your parts? Bob

Why a 106 mm on a 4 bolt setup? Couldn't you get more power than the 4 bolt would handle out of say a 94 mm?

that aint ****..... got a buddy with a stock block Supra that has a PG and 2 step.... he just put a 105mm on it. Only 3.2 ltr motor............ uses a 300 shot to spool the turbo on the 2 step!

looking like a nice build which has a lot of progress already

I'm lost a bit as well on the body parts flying off and or even racing with 50+ MPH winds.

Looks nice Dave, good luck with it.

If it was that windy I'm surprised they let cars down the track.

The 4 bolt head is a issue that is able to be worked around. Same as alot of other issues with these types of builds. The Tune has alot to do with it.

Heck you can lift the heads with a 76mm turbo if you try hard enough. Some look at pushing water as the end of the world. The rest of us look at it as part of the game.

Thanks guys.

On the body panels. The wind must have caught under the front fender; there is a bolt that holds the fender to the body just in front of the door; it is just a plastic O with a bolt holding it to the actual body. It broke it off and than ripped the bolt out of bottom of fender nearest the door. The rear bumper: ripped the body bolt right out of the plastic that is attached to bumper cover.

This is going to be a new set-up for us. Agree with Josh, it is all the tune and just how aggressive you want to be. With the E98, we should be just fine. My tuner and builder has been doing turbos for a long time. I am very comfortable with his knowledge. Will we lift a head? Maybe. Maybe not. We should have enough room to swap out head gaskets and at $40-50 a set for the GM gaskets, it will not put us down for long.

If someone wants to front me enough money to do the LSX with a 6bolt heads, I'll be more than glad to accept their donation

Our goal: GO FASTER THAN LAST YEAR . Hope for 7's and 1500rwhp. We'll see next spring.
