Default Fuel Regulator location

I've gotten mixed answers from my mechanic friends...one says it's located in the tank with the pump and the other says its the thing located in between the stock fuel rails.

Which friend is correct and which friend should I tell to go back to trade school?

The trucks do actually have the pressure regulator installed right off the fuel rail. I think what your friend is referring to is the pulse dampener on the f-body LS1.
