General Maintenance & Repairs - How to remove fan?

I have an LQ9 from a 2009 Escalade. How do you remove the fan from the water pump?

I'm suprised they are still on the Water Pumps..I thought they would be Electric..

A friend of mine had a couple of special Wrenches, one locked on to something(I don't remember), and the other he put onto the Nut for the Fan on the Water Pump. It takes them off quickly.

Thanks, Merv. Sounds like I need to hold the fan/clutch and turn the shaft/nut behind it. Thanks for the tip. GenIII engines are a lot different than GenI!

A lot of GM TRUCKS still have clutch fans and they are a nice pain in the ass to remove, too.
