Has this ever happened to you? I was out cruising today, playin in the z. I am on the highway and I slow it down to 25mph and punch it. It takes off like it normally does and I hold it all the way up to 140. The only problem, it felt like it took forever!! It may be because I have some more performance parts at the house and I know what else I am buying for it in about 2 months time, or maybe it's just that I am used to it now. Either way, it just didn't feel as fast as it used to. Nothing mechanical wrong as far as I can tell, just the feeling I got from it wasn't the same. Of course, it hasn't had any mods added for about a month so I don't know.

At first you are like OMG this is fast but you get used to it and it just seems like the car is slow. This is why I like putting the car away for 5 months a year and it feels fast compared to my Dodge Ram.

I gave a coworker a ride in my car with the 150HP jets armed and he was damn, thats the fastest car I have been in. I was like, the car felt a little slow but I guess I was just used to the power.

You get used to speed especially NA speed its so linear. But add some spray ,super or turbo and its much better. And if you do get bored you can usually just up the shot or up the boost or change out the pulley.

Putting the car away over winter does for sure make it seem way faster the next spring. And having other slow vehicles to drive also helps keep the speed feeling fresh when you do drive your faster car.

This happens to me all the time, but it is because my car really is slow.

My girl has my old 07 g5 and I drive that sometimes and that shit is slow. I agree when I first got it, I was very impressed. Now that I have had it for a while, I am used to it by now. I am adding the rest of my exhaust this month and a stall and gears in a couple months so that should help a bit.

It's like a drug, you end up needing more to get your fix!

I drove my friends automatic '99 V6 Mustang the other night and got out thinking "Damn my Camaro doesn't feel much faster..." Sometimes it'll snatch and bring a smile, but other times I'm left frowning and wishing I had gears and a Yank behind the flywheel.

I think this has been said in many other threads, but sit in the passenger seat, and have someone you trust mash on the gas pedal for you.

Feels a lot different.

True.
It's A Different Feeling in The Passenger Seat because you can't grab the wheel, hit the brakes, or anything.

:DYou Just have to Sit there And Take It.:D

Same here, but I wouldn't use the phrase ungodly fast for my car since it is still pretty much stock, but I think it's because my DD is a 98 Corolla barely pushing triple digits in HP. There is an Insane amount of Difference between my two cars.

another thing to think about is the trans can be going! and yes you do get used to the speed. just put on your mods and be amazed for about a month then you will get use to it again. and it's a never ending cycle

I get that feeling once in a while, but on the other hand, I travel a lot and drive a lot of rentals.

Every time I've been driving a POS rental for a week and then get in my car, I damn near kill myself.

Note to self: Full throttle on a V8 is not the same as a four-banger econo-box...

My Trans Am is by no means fast (415RWHP) but i love storing it for 6 months for winter. The first time i pull the car out in spring, after driving my '95 Avalon. Makes the Trans Am feel like it has 1000 HP :D

Yeah.. These cars have personalities......... Seriously.... The third gens were more pronounced. -I'm not the only one who believes it.

Mine didn't want to just tool around today, it wanted to bake the tires off. Some days, it seems like it really didn't want to leave the garage...

After trips on the highway, sometimes I'll get back into town and stop at a light, go to take off regularly, and it'll light the tires up and try to throw me into the seat... Just gotta laugh, pat it on the dash and tell it to calm down! :jest:

I daily drive my car so I don't think its so much "getting used to it" really...but I do agree it could be all in my head

Swift_01_z-28
12-17-2008, 07:49 PM
I daily drive mine too. I think that it is the fact that I have been driving it for a while now and have raced a few times without adding any mods, so I'm used to how it pulls.

thunderstruck507
12-17-2008, 07:57 PM
you must not drive like I do lol

racing or not, WOT is a multiple time daily occurrence, even with the old 355 that was in there for 4 years...just some days it seemed to be a bit more lively

I'm just pulling my hair out now because every so often the car has NOTHING, going WOT feels like 1/4 throttle, won't downshift, and just kinda lugs...but get down the road and try again and its back to normal, almost seems like the ecm isnt cranking fuel to match the air and throttle command

not throwing any codes and I can't catch it acting stupid when I have a scanner in the car

Swift_01_z-28
12-17-2008, 09:17 PM
My car doesn't do all that. I do like to go WOT every once in a while though. Mostly when my girl is in the car and tryin to put on her makeup or something. That shit is funny.

thunderstruck507

haha nice...

I like catching people when they aren't paying attention because my headrests are hard as rocks, so a good 2-1 downshift brings some hilarity

It's funny cuz my girl will be trying to put on some eye liner or something and I will wait until it gets right next to her eye and punch it. Shit is funny to me. She doesn't think its as funny as I do, but oh well.
