Default '93 RX7 getting a real motor

Hey guys, someone recommended this site for parts for my build. I've been here about a week checking things out and its a great site for everything I need.

I bought this show car a couple months ago and now I want to rip that rotary out and get an LS2 in there so I can race it for fun.

I've named the car Hellboy

I've gotten mixed reactions about the spoiler but I'm thinking about putting a carbon fiber hatch on it and leaving it wingless

Wow that is a badass RX7. Wingless would look better, but damn, thats a good looking car. It will look better with that LS2 in it though.

Good choice on swapping in that ls2. It's a really nice car, and I bet you will like it alot more when you are done with your motor swap.

Thanks guys.

My goal is 500whp (nitrous if needed) and to keep the car under 3000lbs (even with a full custom interior).

500rwhp n/a is not going to be easy to do, its possible but not easy. If you were looking reach your goal n/a then I would suggest looking at an ls3, unless of course you have a good deal on an ls2.

With the right heads, cam, and enough cubes anything is possible!

I would go with 6.2boosted/or Ls7 boosted! with a VeilSide Fortune bodykit 335 rears. dream car perfect 50/50 with style and handling! but my nissan LS1 240sx s14 will do for now. Before I drop 12K on a bodykit +FD

VeilSide bodykit is a bit much for my taste and doesn't handle racing or high speeds as well as most. I might boost the LS2 someday but for now its out of the question.

The Nissan looks great, a buddy of mine sold his 240sx and then found out he could do the LS1 swap and he's pissed that he sold it

Even if it gets me 450whp I can throw enough nitrous in there to clear 500. I will only be using the nitrous for drags and dynos (bragging rights) so I would like to get a good emount n/a

That is a very nice looking RX7. That thing is going to be a BIG go cart, with all that power and under 3000 pounds.

Nice! Yeah why not boost it from the start to reach your power goal, if not what will you fill that spot with where the intercooler is now? Car looks sick, the spoiler is proportionate, doesn't look bad at all.

I love your RX-7 man. I think it'd look better with a wingless/CF hatch myself! It is hard to make 500RW NA but its been done. A member on here by the username of "Patrick G" has done it before. I think after you do heads/cam on your LS2 you won't be dissapointed even though you may not have 500RW. But like you said nothing a little spray can't help.

I'm not a big fan of the air deflectors(?) on the sides of the front bumper. The spoiler fits the car now but when the roar of the LS2 is in it, it'll seem like the spoiler is overdone, no spoiler will work best IMO.

Nice looking car and welcome to the site.

Yeah, that's something I'll think about once its finished; the spoiler really doesn't say "V8"

car looks really good and if u dont mind me asking how much did u pick it up 4?

500 na isn’t going to be a prob at all. A 402 with budget heads/cam or a stock ls2 bottom end with a good set of heads and a properly speced cam will put u there. It’s a little harder with the smaller cubes of a stock ls1 but it still can be done.
