.040 head gasket
i tried doing a search but not any luck, ok so im looking for a head gasket for a 402 4.005 bore motor im useing some tfs 225's
i was told cometics are very crucial on haveing everything machined perfect or they will leak so i was advised to go with a felpro
now what bore size gasket should i run ? i want it with a .040 compressed thickness

Fel Pro's are out of the question if you want .040 MLS gaskets because they don't make one. The only gasket they offer that's close is the 1041 which is a steel core laminate instead of MLS.
IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, the Fel Pro is a better gasket but Cometic offers more options and they are reliable if you prep the deck surfaces correctly.
I'm running the Fel Pro 1161's and have had no issue's over the last year of daily driving.

cool thanks i wasnt sure if that'd be too big of a bore on the gasket but doubt it will be a issue, im gonna wait till im assemble my motor(3 weeks) to see how much the piston sticks out the hole before i order them, i just wanted to get a heads up well before then

I've had Cometics on an LS1 (used) and LS3 (new) now with no issues at all, and no special prep done. They have far more options in terms of bore diameter and gasket thickness.
