The LS6 oil pump is now the stock replacement for the LS1 and it is an upgrade over the old LS1 pumps. Porting one is easy and just takes a little time. Katech sells a shim to increase pressure or you can use washers, etc.... If you don't want to port, an out of the box LS6 pump is plenty adequate.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION, here's a document I assembled showing how to port an LS6 oil pump: Download

I have heard good things about the LS6 one, I'm using a Melling HV.

I am with Merv and JPH

The Melling 296 pump has 18% more volume so I decided it was worth the extra 30-40 bucks.

Oh yea, trust me that one isn't coming out for anything..

To the OP, if you can get a LS6 for a good price, go with that, but the Melling HV will perform better hands down.

I just put a melling in my 02 Z06 so I have a Z06 pump sitting around if you want it? Make an offer.
