Default Stupid question Eaton/12 bolt and 9"

Just curious, can the eaton posi be reused with the 9" or the 12 bolt? I see so many options for the locker/trutrac/spools that it made me wonder why I've yet to see an option to just keep your eaton.

I think moser actually lists an eaton posi unit available for a 12 bolt rear. They don't have one for a 9 inch though.

^^^ Correct the Eaton Positraction is only available for the 12 Bolt not the 9". It is available in a 30 or 33 spline axle.

The whine most people complain about with 12 bolts, is that coming directly from the 12 bolt itself or the trutrack/locker/spool choice they select to go with it? I'm looking at someday God willing getting a 12 bolt and still be able to let my wife ride with me. She's already asking where my mullet is......

The whine is actually from the ring and pinion not being adjusted correctly. If it's done right, there will be NO noise unless you plan on 5000 rpm drag launches. The housing likes to flex and distort slightly with launches that high. If your car is an auto however, the 12 bolt is fine.
