Default My 1st 6 speed track day

I now have much respect for all u 6 speed guys and gals.Ive always had A4 cars with big stalls.Very easy to race and very consistant. My WS6 on the other hand,wow!1st run I do a 1st gear burn out(26x11.5x16 et street)I was affraid to stall.stage and bring the car up to 4500 rpms and let it rip.The steering wheel comes unlocked from the tilt position and it just felt plain violent.I felt the run was pretty decent, then I get the time slip(1.75 60ft 11.70@120 mph) I know, not bad but Ive cut 1.45-1.50 60ft times all my drag racing life in these f-bodys.
2nd go around, take it up to 5500 rpms and let it go.Smoke the tires and the car takes off to the left.Im done!Park it. take a quik look around the car and the pass side rear is almost on the tire. The spring came out of the pocket and is all cockeyed.
The car is a full weight WS6 with the spare tire still there.Ran through the full exhaust and stock 17 inch wheels in the front.Just wanted to share and thanks for looking Jim.

I learned my lesson the first time I took my 6 speed out. I was all ready to shoot for high 10's in street trim with 315-35's in the rear. Well I barely hit an 11.90 with a best 60' of 2.20. I now have a set of slicks for when the track opens up in the spring. I think I will eventually go back to a FLT 4L60e and a 4400 stall converter...

If you are driving the car on the street alot and not wanting to put a drag bar in I found rear airbags work well. In My 98 Formula I had an airbag on the right side at 18psi and ran a 1.50 sixty on a 26x8.5 MT ET Drag. Stock shocks, stock springs, stock rear swaybar. 12.5psi hot worked for me and do the burnout in second gear.
