Default how much boost can you do with a 5PSI and 7PSI spring

using an electronic boost controller of course, before boost start spiking??

Is the norm around 10 additional PSI of boost, or double or triple?

Yeah around double I think max. I was seeing guys with the same aps kit as me saying its not holding steady past 15 and maybe they are forgetting the standard springs supplied are like 7.5. I would be trying a higher spring before blaming things on the turbos like seen in some threads.
I had to change out springs in my 97 talon for same reason. Wanted to run past 20 and had 10psi spring.

It varies from setup to setup, but if you have a two port waste gate and supply boost to the top port to increase the spring pressure, you can usually run a little over double.

I can get to 20psi with my 7 psi spring but it bleeds off due to back pressure. I will hold 16psi reliably though.

Backpressure can also come into play with it. If you have a cutout or dumped dp, you should be able to hit double the gate spring np, but with some restriction you may start having issues around 1.5-1.75 times as much.

Depends on backpressure. My car runs 5.5psi base and I've run it as high as 16 with 49% dc on the eb2.

With my Eboost2 using method 2, with a 7.5 psi spring and the boost controller with 0% duty cycle, it holds 14 psi, open 5" DP.

On a turbo car if you can, open dp is definatly the way to go.

If you do not run a boost controller and just rely on the spring you should just see the spring pressure as max boost right?

If the gate is connected to the vacuum source you get the gate spring pressure as your max with no controller attached. If you disconnect the gate from any boost pressure source you would be able to boost way way more of course. This might be interesting test for some who think their turbos are not putting out because of maybe being too small or if they have other problems not letting them hit higher boost. Its dangerous of course and should usually only be used as a quick test and watching the boost guages like a hawk.

I can't believe anyone can get way way over their spring rating if the gate was still hooked up unless maybe the gate was too small for the setup. I had to go to 20psi spring in my tial 44 97 talon to get past 20 . With my 10psi spring could only get to 20psi max. I didn't try disconnecting the gate though.

yes this is correct..
it all comes back to boost control , either electronic , or manual

i have 7 lb springs , and can run 12.5 upwards
last pass was 35 psi....

the way the manual boost controller is plumbed, dictats what the waste gate valve does.

well, I guess ill try boosting the 5PSI spring to 16 and see if it works, I need as low as possible spring pressure to make use of the boost-by-gear in the lower-gears.

Thanks guys.

I saw an easy 21 psi with a 7.5 psi spring in my TiAL 60mm, with a SP setting of 36 on the Eboost2. Hooked up method 2. With zero on the SP, I see 14 psi. If I run with no boost controller, just off the gate, I see 8 psi.

depending on what controller you use you could make as much as the turbo can produce using the smallest spring and then using control to do the rest.

Default Need help setting up eboost to run 5-7 psi only.

Hi, I've a t3 Garrett 50trim 48ar hot/42ar cold on a stock Honda Accord auto tran (with jdm f22b swap). For boost control, I'll be using the eboost 2 Controller, Synapse 44mm (with small valve seat and lighter spring) and synapse bov (recirculated).

I want to start with 4 psi and gradually go upto 5 to 6 psi. 7 psi will be the cutoff. Is this do-able with the small valve seat (with the copper seal) and lighter spring, if my exhaust is producing very little back pressure and the log manifold's wastegate port is centered to allow for even exhaust port gas escape?

I see that in the synapse instructions where it says to connect the wg to a selenoid it mentions to use only port C. However, for lowest psi (4psi) one must use Port C & D which produces the lowest boost pressure (when not using the selenoid). Can I tee both C and D to port 2
of the selenoid or must I under all conditions connect selenoid only to port C (and leave A,B and D vented to atmosphere)?

I don't have the large valve seat or the heavier spring (did not come with the wg). Is it possible to achive 4 psi with the smaller valve seat? What valve seat/spring (blue or green) do you recommend that I use for my low boost application?

Also, for the low boost that I'm running, will using the Turbomatic e-boost 2 (sorry, I'm am assuming you're familiar with eboost 2) be of any benefit. Of cause, I'm not going to be doing boost by gear, but will add e-boost make for a safer and more accurate boost contol setup (despite the low psi requirements)?
