do you have higher compression then the stock motor (i see you have ls6 heads) ? if you do i would trade those ls6 heads for some lq9 heads. bigger combustion chamber and they lower the compression a little.
and i am not sure if you should run FI with the cam you have. i am not sure on this, so can somebody help him out with that ?
try not do drive anywhere without a tune.

it depends on the compression ratio if you have something like 12.5:1 i would avoid running boost at all. but that's just me. i want to be on the safe side. and wouldn't that cam have to be changed ?

+1 on making sure you consider you compression ratio prior to putting 7+ PSI into your engine. If those LS6 heads are milled and you have a higher compression ratio then normal id say stay conservative and go with 5-6 psi as that should put you into the 550+ rwhp range. You could push more boost but you might have to run a higher octane gas than pump 93 or invest in an alky/meth injection kit. The cam isnt optimal for boost but ive seen people run ms3/ms4/g5x3 sized cams with boost and make some good number.

Rods yes, crank yes, even pistons should hold. What usually goes are the rod bolts. I cant say they will be fine but with a spot on tune and enough fuel/octane your stock shortblock should be fine for a decent amount of time. Its hit or miss though as you will read about some shortblocks flying apart at 7-8 psi while others are pushing 10+ and beating the **** out of their cars without an issue. If its factory compression then you should be ok with 6-7 pounds and a real good tune IMO.

I would stay 5 to 7 with a safe tune in terms of afr and timing. Don't get greedy. I would possibly go up to 10psi if you lower compression with different heads. As said the stock cranks and rods are very strong. Rod bolts weak area and the pistons don't give you much safety margin compared to good forged ones. There are many pictures of blown up stock pistons on this forum.I have some in the garage from buddies cars. One reason I went to a forged motor before putting on my turbos.
You hear of guys running some big power on stock bottom engines but its not a best idea. Greedy will usually get you a blown up motor. Conservative on the stock engine and it can live for awhile even quite awhile. Make sure you also have proper scantools so you can keep an eye on stuff most importantly knock and a wideband would also be a very good idea.
Local guy with sts has run 5psi for several years no problem. He has upgraded injectors but is on stock pump. He is very conservative with his tune no alc injection just premium fuel.
His car goes decent for a pretty much totally stock 346. Remember even 400 or 500rwhp is lots of power on the street. Especially 500rwhp .

i would get the aps kit. or the tti kit. i say that because i know once you drive the car on 5psi you will want more. the sts system has a big flaw, the turbo is in the wrong place, once you put a bigger turbo on there the lag will be pretty big.

oh yea and get some harder valve springs, or if you have a little more money some lq9 heads(they will drop the compression and have a nice big combustion chamber that should prevent knock to a point). good luck

STS kits will make good power, it just depends on what you want the car for. STS kits on manual cars do not put down the greatest track times however it will make for a fun street/highway car. If your looking for a kit that is going to put up great track times then you will either need to swap in an auto (th400/powerglide/4L80E), or go with a different turbo kit. I agree with what is posted above and say go with the APS or TTI kit as they are prove performers. Also, if you not set on going turbo look into a D1SC procharger setup from Exotic Performance Plus as they make great power and will give you room to grow like the turbo kits.
