Default first attempt at wet sanding

Well tonight I took the plunge and made my first attempt at wet sanding. I picked up an extra Z28 spoiler to experiment on and here are the results.

What I started with:

After 1000 grit

After 1500 grit

After 2000 grit

First stage of polishing:
Makita Rotary @ 1500 rpm, Lake Country Yellow cutting pad, Menzerna Power Polish

Second stage of polishing:
Makita Rotary @ 1500 rpm, Lake Country Orange pad, Menzerna Power Polish

Third stage of polishing:
Makita Rotary @ 1200 rpm, Lake Country Orange pad, Menzerna Super Intensive Polish

Fourth stage of polishing:
Makita Rotary @ 1200 rpm, Lake Country white pad, Menzerna Nano polish

Fifth and final stage of polishing:
Porter Cable @ speed 6, Lake Country blue pad, Menzerna Nano polish

Side by side difference of before/after:

No more orange peel on the test section!

Wow dude that looks great!
So are you supposed to do that to an entire car? Looks like it took a long time, but the results are awesome!

nice job, i would start with 1500 only in the areas where there are scuffs and minor imperfections, then do the car with 2000. this way you dont remove so much of your clear. also instead of going thru 6 steps of polish use a mid grit compound for the first buff, then move on to polishes. you did a great job but this will help to speed up your process with the same results.

I may have to do this to my entire car instead of getting new paint... lol.

Nice job. Its is always satisfying to get in there and experiment and get good results. Small sections for the whole car. I would suggest masking out a section at a time so you dont get ahead of yourself. I normally end up doing way more than I intended to when I start a project like that. Good luck.
