I was thinking le1's too. But was wondering if le2's would make any more power with the little hotcam?

I wouldn't waiste putting a better set of heads on (then stock) with just the hotcam, you can get a custom grind from Lloyd Elliot with his budget heads & gain a good 70-75 rwhp (over stock heads/cam), his cam alone should net 20-25 rwhp if not more over the hotcam, the budget heads are good for another 30 rwhp.

I thought I read somewhere that the le1 cam only puts down 5-10 rwhp more than the hotcam? I have also read about people with ported heads and hotcam putting down somewhere around 400rwhp. Seems like with 1.7 rockers the hotcam would be damn close to an le1 cam. Hotcam with 1.7 rockers 218/228/.557/.557 112 lsa, le1 cam 218/224 .544/.544 111 LSA

Those are the specs on the first cam listed on the LE website. Maybe this is the LE1 cam? 224/230 .560/.565 112 LSA

Anything over "stock" heads will produce it's just how much and how much $ you want to spend?? I didn't think you could run 1.7 rockers on a LT1 just LS motors??

Ported heads and an lt4 hotcam will generally produce 340-350rwhp in an auto and upwards of 365rwhp with a stick.

Theres alot more to a camshaft than just the numbers at .050" so your comparison really doesn't mean much.

First thing I would do is get the best heads you can afford and then toss in a custom grind to compliment them otherwise you will be hindering yourself.

I think im just going to find a block and build something nasty. And spray the **** out of my motor I have now. Will the stock heads flow a 200 shot of nitrous?

Exactly!! The cam i was talking about was a custom grind from Lloyd as we talked on the phone, it spec'd 565/565, 223/230 @ 50 on a 110 LSA, ground on a 110 it was worth 10 & 10 more then the cc503, & i'm sure the cc503 makes more HP & TQ then the hotcam, if you decide to build a nice motor, go for cubes, then match a nice head/cam combo for your whole package & intended use.

I went with LE2 heads and intake. Dyno numbers were 358 NA and 511 N2O. Hotcam, LPPs, RT cats, B&B TriFlo, Vig 3600, Moser 12-bolt.

Sure with Nitrous, but without it hes at 358, those #s can be had with stock heads & a 503 cam if tuned right, with lloyds budget heads & the cam we talked about would be in the 375 HP range, step up too the LE2 heads & cam & your over 400 HP, There is no sence in getting a good set of heads & scimping with the cam, you want to "match" the set for best overall HP/TQ. Putting on a good breathing set of heads & a small cam is like putting in a good cam with skimpy heads, your defeting the purpose.

396 would be the smallest i would go, sounds like a good plan, build a solid foundation (bottom end), then get a nice head/cam/intake/injector package BEST suited for those Cubes.
