Default what am i missing? (turbo parts)

ok so i picked up a 5.3 and plan to do a single T70 and drop it into a foxbody but i need to know the parts ill need for a kit... i will be using truck manifolds and building all the piping but other than the turbo/bov/Wg and intercooler is there anything i should need?

am i going to have to switch intakes? will the truck intake work with a 4" cowl hood?

yah here is what i have in mind so far...

Masterpower T-70 Turbocharger with .68 exhaust housing (t4 flange)
arp rod bolts
arp head bolts
yellow ls6 springs
hardened pushrods (anyone know length?)
vortech regulator
melling high volume oil pump
cloyes HD timing chain
custom grind cam (218/224 .550"/.550" 114)
60# injectors
summit 130gph fuel pump(enough?)
2 1/2" crossover (center mount)
31"x12"x3" a2a intercooler
3" coldside
tial 50mm BOV
tial 38mm WG
snow performance meth kit
3 1/2" downpipe with cutout into magnaflow

Not sure about the manis but I dont see a fuel pump. A wideband is always a help. 60# might be a little overkill if you dont plan on upgrading later. Flanges, silicone couplers, clamps, oil feed and return and vacume lines to name a few that arent up there. I am sure you have thought about this but just incase.

Boost controller of some sort would help.

Also may want to consider a boost reference fuel pressure regulator.

Gives a good summary of whats needed.

42 should be good unless you plan on going bigger than the 5.3 will allow.

Whoa! Wait a second there. 18psi is not gonna work with the stock pistons and rods.

I put over 17# in mine on pump gas and finally hurt it, I think with the right tune it could have made it a while on good gas, but obviously its on the edge. I regularly run mine on pump gas at 14-15psi so if you wanna be safe and mix in race gas and have a good tune i dont think you will have a problem with 15#. On pump gas 10# all the time should be fine.

BTW, my 5.3 had 160k on it when I installed it

It will def have to lose timing and rin rich for that kind of pressure. I have seen guys run 14 or 15 before on a stock bottomend for a short time but it def wont last forever.

yes and no.. you will gain alittle, but unless you are upping the air volume flow much over stock it wont matter much... remember that your engine will flow the SAME volume of air under boost as off boost if your setup is properly intercooled that is... but flowing the same volume at higher pressure you are mooving a larger Mass of air (P*V=n*R*T)

i know that there is a small diff, but you will just have a little bigger pressure drop over the TB... its better to spend the money where it counts first.. fuelsystem, rods, crank and pistons (if you are aiming high) and so on... a ported TB is on the list for next seasons tweaks when you have figured out how to hook and so on

that is not the correct way of doing a boosted engine... you need to get a 2 or 3 bar MAP sensor and have the tune done right... boost reference regulators are the redneck way of adding fuel to a fuelmap...

and i dont see a pair of 6.0 heads there to cut compression.....

my list would be..

5.3L engine
6.0L heads
considder pistons......
(crank and rods above 700 Hp)
ported LS6 oilpump (you need more oil since you are also feeding turbo)
BOV-only if you are running a manual tranny
50 mm WG turbosmart or tial (this thing kills or saves engines)
turbo cam...
BIG fuelpump walbro 255. two of them above 500Hp, or aeromotive
big intercooler (as big as the chassis allows) powerstroke diesel IC fits a fox (stack two and have custom tanks made)
if you are aimimg for high boost then an aluminum intake, edelbroch tunnelram just out is a good bet for your application
T70 is a great turbo, but no good over 750 Hp

Did you already buy that turbo? If not, go with the .96 exhaust housing. You will need a BOV to save the turbo even if you go auto tranny. You wont really need to drop compression with the amount of boost you want to run, but it would be safer if you have the extra money.
