Corvette Performance - Price for a c5 or c5zo6 next year

Prices seem to be coming down. Around this time next year what do you think these cars will be going for?

I'm looking at mint C5 ZO6's now. Most are mid 20's with less thn 40K.
Next year, MAYBE they will go down a little....don't hold your breath for a big drop.

I just got my 02 Z06 black on black with 41k for 18,9. VERY clean, be patient. I was looking for months, cash talks :)

Out here Vettes are in the 17-20k range and I'd say you couldn't touch a Z06 for less than $20k at least. Vettes tend to not drop off in prices much at all, only little by little each year.

I have already seen a few Z06s for 18/19. I don't see them coming down much more but you will probably see more of them selling around that price range.

I bet they were '01's. Down here the only ones below 20K are '01's or ones that are less then perfect.

A big whopping 20 horsepower. :eyes:
I personally own an '01 and have driven TENS of '02+ cars.... no difference in feel.

LOTS of upgrades if you ask me!
Differences between 2001 & 2002 & up:
1. The LS6 engine standard in the Z06 increased from 385 to 405 horsepower. Torque increased from 385 to 400 lb-ft.
2. Front fender badges for Z06 models included the 405 HP designation.
3. LS6 exhaust back pressure was reduced by 16%
4. Cam shaft was redesigned resulting in increased lift and a 5% increase in air flow
5. Valve spring material composition was changed to increase seat load by 14%.
6. LS6 intake and exhaust valves were a new, lighter design.
7. The valve train weight was reduced by 0.81 pounds, which improved valve seating at high rpm.
8.Airflow over the LS6 MAF sensor was increased by removing grid work
9. MAF software was re calibrated
10. LS6 air cleaner housing had a larger intake
11. Wheels looked the same BUT they were cast spun instead of forged for a weight savings of 1.3 pounds per car
12. rear shock valving was changed
13. Improved clutch
14. Thicker front anti-sway bar
15. New front brake pads
16. HUD was standard (HUD was not avaliable in 2001 cars)
17. 2004 introduced a new fuel system which carries over into the new C6.

Stock for stock the '02s are quicker. I've seen stock '02s in the 11's, the best I've seen a stock '01 run was like a 12.4.
The biggest issue with the '01s is the oil burning issue.

this time last year: I sold my 03 Z06 with 24k miles on it for 24k.....on a trade in.....there are going to be some good deals soon and more importantly, the C6 Z06 is really dropping...

I know all those stats and more. Like I've said I've DRIVEN hundreds of C5's and tens of C5Zo6's...... so... you showing me magazine stats with miniscule 1/4 mile differences made me chuckle. :lol:

To the original poster, the prices are not going to drop much more, rule of thumb is that a low mile Corvette never goes below 40ish % of it's original price.... regardless of year. A Zo6 was roughly 50K new, you do the math. Same thing with C3's C4's until it's time to appreciate after 25 or so years.

I would have no problem driving an 01. I dont want a mint car as I would be driving it pretty often. 60k-70k miles is no problem.

A 1/4 a second in the 1/4 is far from miniscule....and who was talking about magazine articles, I never said that once? I said I have SEEN those times.

There was even a TSB for all LSx engines from the late 90's to the early '00s. I have had a car with the ring issue that was covered and fixed by the TSB. The PVC system is an another problem, that adds to it.
In the end who cares?
Many do, that is why the '02-'04 is more "wanted" they had many upgrades and fixes. The guy asked, I explained. If your buying, like I am the '02-'04s are the better choice. It's the internet remember? Chill out....and stop being so defensive. We're all LSx guys here, no need to be so sarcastic....

I would expect them to stay almost around what they are now.... Now that doesnt mean you wont find someone who just wants to get rid of his car and will sell it stupid cheap.... Theres always a few of them out there.
FWIW.... I bought my 1 owner 01 Z06, which doesnt burn any oil at all, in January 07 with only 17k miles on it for under $25k, so....
And to touch on the "differences" between the 01s and 02-04s.... I have quite a few friends around me with the 02-04s and "performance wise", there isnt a huge difference. Ive actually dynoed higher then a few of them. Mine dynoed 352rwhp/352rwtq.... On 2 different dynos. Weve raced numerous times and the only time you will see a big difference in the 02-04s, not all but most, is above 130mph where they begin to pull maybe a 1/2 car at most, but.... How often will you be up there?
Just change the cam and youll solve the problem quick!!! I wouldnt get too caught up in the performance hype though. Any vette, Z06 or base, is gonna be a fun ass car.... With tons of power, so.... Just make sure to be patient and find the one you want.

I am concerned about the same thing.. except my quest will be longer..
Might end up selling my F-body after college (4 1/2 years from now) and getting a C5 or C6.. By then I will have probably $34k to spend on 2 cars (keep in mind one of them will be a DD winter beater) plus whatever I get for the T/A
Want a Corvette because they just look more professional, and ride better.

How about c5s in the 16-17 range? Id rather have a zo6 but if theres a pretty big gap in prices a c5 would work.

there is two Z06's in the LSX for sale section for under $20k. They do have over 70k miles on them.

If you dont play on changing atleast 14 of those things on your 01 then your either scared or 50+ years old. Its like saying the 02 camaros are much better than 00' because the ls6 intake and a few other things.

I want to keep this car closer to stock than what I have now, just a nice car to cruise around and go to some car shows. Obviously if I wanted to build a race car I would stick with an f-body since its a lot cheaper.

and to TA, then an 02 would be better for bone stock performance but if you are just looking for a cruiser then why not save some cash with an 01'?

Because for a few grand more the '02 and up Z's have alot of upgrades and no ring issues. The only good thing about a '01 is speedway white. That color looks sick on a C5 Z.
