Default Time to change the steering column...HELP! lol

Ok now I'm going to replace my steering column because it has pretty much sucked ever since I bought the car. Have any of you guys ever changed a steering column out?? This is a '96 t/a. If you guys have, did you guys have trouble with the wiring, etc.??

Remove the Dash Plastic and you will see 2 Nuts that hold it up, and 3 Bolts that hold it to the Fire Wall. Remember to disconnect the Linkage under the Hood too.

It's not that bad to remove, pretty easily actually.

The ignition switch R&R on my Tech Page shows how to remove the steering column.

How about the VATS? Will it start once I put it on? I mean, the column is from the same year as my car so I think it would

it is completely jacked. It was opened inside the column and now the steering wheel moves all over the place.

As long as the key cylinder detects the key pellet ok, then it should work (you can prove that before you install it). The column only passes the resistance reading to the VATS module.
You will have to make sure the new key is of the same resistance as your old one. If it is not, you will need to get a new key cut with the profile of your new column and the key pellet resistance of your old one. Or, I guess you could swap in the old key cylinder, if it is ok.
