You're probably best off buying new headlight motors from GM. They aren't too difficult to install, and while they cost a little bit, at least they'll fix the headlight motor issue for good.

sorry yeah i meant brass not bronze. i know how to manually move them up and down. its the fact that they are stuck up and everytime that lock or unlock the car or turn the lights on or off i get the horrendous grinding from the headlight motors. so i am not going to pop the hood and turn the lights up and down every time i want them to move. and yeah i guess thats probably what i will have to do buy the whole motors from from GM.

The gear on the motor is probably stripped now. I would pull it apart and check it. If it is you will have buy a new one.

When you replace the gear make sure the metal top cover is secured with no wobble/play.Also make sure that the white stoppers haven't fallen off or are not too worn down. If that doesn't help get a new motor. I had a bad motor that kept stripping my brass/aluminum gear, after checking everything I just replaced it with an Autozone one and issue resolved.
