Help with shopping list if I get TR224 .563 112?
Since Thunder Racing is having a sale until the end of the month, now may be the time to take the plunge and get a cam.
(BTW, I have a pretty-much stock 2002 Camaro SS with aftermarket SLP airlid and LoudMouth exhaust.)
Q: If I get the TR224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA, what else do I need to buy?
That is, are new valve springs, retainers, or different push rods needed for this cam on a stock LS1?
What about a Valve Spring Compression Tool?
I see they have a cam swap gasket kit for sale -- guess I'll need one of those (or is there a better way to go?).
In short, what else do I need other than the cam?
Thanks! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

I see that Paul at Thunder recommended a while back:
Thunder Cam
Comp 26918's
Thunder Pushrods
What length pushrods?
Opinions on this setup?

I got the same setup but the cam is on a 114 LSA
I got the cam
comp 918's
thunder pushrods 7.400
gasket kit
thats about all you need to get it going.

Definately want to replace the Valvesprings, and go with TI retainers. May be worth while to replace the timing chain with a sturdier unit as well.

All you need:
Cam and springs
What you should get additionally:
gasket set, compressor tool, and maybe pushrods...
Unless you are running guideplates, you shouldn't need hardened pushrods. And Ti retainers are nice, but a waste if you aren't planning on seeing 6500+ rpms very often...

I like what you say about TI being a waste. I have 918 springs and I am going to use the stock retainers. I am going to run a comp cams xe-r 224 561 112 lsa on a AA4. Yes I plan on getting my car tuned.

They lighten the valve train and they are on sale. So why not buy them? At least if you are running the 224 cam or larger.

BTW- Spring compressor: http://www.mytoolstore.com/kd/kdengi13.html#3271
