Western Members - CHP officer gave me a present this morning

Damn dude in the fast lane pulling a u-haul trailer. I whip around him and see a parked CHP up ahead so I hit the brakes and drop it down to 2nd. He gets on the fwy and gets behind me & pulls me over. Tells me most CHP units have radar on the front AND the rear now a days.

Most radar detectors still work on the patrol cars when they are in motion.. The only units the old radar detectors don't work on are the handheld scanners where the officer has to be completely stationary. Figures that mine was off when I got my 1 ticket back in 07...

I thought that CHP had to pace you before pulling you over. Even if they got you on the gun.

No.. They don't. They don't even have to get you on the gun. If they are standing still, many of them are well trained at identifying vehicle speeds within 5MPH (that's when they try and pace you, but usually thats when they turn on their in-vehicle radar)... When they pace, I think that it has to be within a close proximity of your car - they can't pace you from a huge distance...

You're speeding ticket is a bigger fine than the slow uhaul truck. Also, higher chance of getting another ticket for something else.

If you go to court and A. he has not shown you your speed if you requested to see the gun then he has to provide proof by law, this should only be attempted with an attorney cause they know the shit. Also Hope to god the douche bag johhny piglet doesn't show up to court.

And what other radar do they have? I am pretty sure they still only have guns I didn't think there was an in car radar cause I have yet to see one on a CHP car, got a close up once in a parking lot just checked it out.

you can tell them about the guy wit the u haul because that should be more dangerous then you and an officers duty is to stop him first. the chp cars have front and back radar but they cannot read at angles. only directly front and back. and it gets harder for it to read when there is another car next to you, you can say the radar got the speed of the car next to me.
