Default E-bay Vats Bypass

I did a lot of searching and couldnt find anything on the E-bay vats bypass kits. Has anyone had any luck with these or know how they work? The e-bay seller wont answer any of my questions. Thanks

You can bypass your VATS with a cheap resistor from radio shack. Got a link? How much do they want?

1) soldering is easy...super easy
2) no answer email = crappy seller = do not buy from them. period
3) turn off VATS in pcm, if your bypass quits working you're stranded

tuning it out of the PCM wont work. The PCM only controls the fuel part. The BCM controls the ignition. The only other way would to get my tuner to tune it out of the PCM and then wire a start switch to bypass the Ignition part.

the PCM controls the lot, the BCM has nothing to do with it...

just get it turned off in the PCM and the engine will start and run perfectly..

Tell who ever told you that, that they better learn a little more before they open their mouth and if it was your tuner, find a new one. The BCM interacts with the key to send the the signal to the PCM on the class 2 data buss to tell the PCM it's OK to supply the fuel to keep running, thats why it will only run a few seconds, if the VATS is not satisfied. If you tell the PCM the car has no VATS, it will start without the signal. Some of the older VATS (ie. the TPI motors) systems also interlock the starter fuction, but those vehicles didn't even have a BCM, the VATS module performed that function

How do you tune it out then? Looking up P1626 for example says BCM enables the crank circuit to the starter and simultaneously a signal to the PCM fuel enable circuit. Not arguing, just trying to understand.

See thats what i have read on here too. PCM shuts the fuel injectors off, and BCM shuts the starter off. Since the BCM cant be tuned, it seems like the only way to get rid on VATS all together is to solder the resistors into the line. I am going to try to get a hold of my tuner, but on my 99 SS i had. He tuned it out o the PCM for me bu i still had trouble with mine.

There is a starter enable relay in some vehicles. Tell me what you working on and I'll look up the wiring diagrams as long as it isn't newer then 2005. I have to run out and play Santa for a while, I'll be back. Actually the bcm can be tuned, for lack of a better work, but from what I was told only once. I guess that was GM's way of making you buy a new one.

I take it this is on the Fbody? Tuning will not change things. The problem is with the key tumbler. The discrimination ckt is wearingn out. Soldering in a subsitute resistance (inline with the BCM input line) matched to the range of the resistor that is in your key is the only solution.

ok thanks! I wasnt sure if those worked. thats why i started the thread. Hows how the ebay ones work is 3 wires. Didnt know how it matched the resistance on the key or just sends a false signal.

Ok i just got this from the baker electronix's website...

Will I need anything else if I am using this to bypass my failing VATS system:
Because this is the complete system (all the other computer modules are still there) your vehicle's VATS may also disable cranking, our module only enables the fuel injectors. You will need to bypass the crank disable relay by rewiring this relay (add a jumper across it) or you can bypass it by using another relay or remote start system to activate the starter solenoid when the ignition key is in the cranking position. Also the security warning light may still come on, the easiest thing to do is just cut the wire that goes from the BCM to this light.
