Just an idea that may not be possible. Is there a way to translate a crank triggered reluctor wheel signal into a high res/low res signal via a homemade converter box?

By this I mean first is there a way to convert a magnetic reluctor signal to a LT1 PCM readable high res or low res pulse (or is it essentially the same thing, just a broken electrical signal only 360x with a laser instead of a magnet?), Second what parts would need to be acquired if any to accomplish this type of electronic signal conversion?

I know it may seem out there, but I am just trying to put some thoughts together for an idea and need some expertise or a whack in the noggin:judge:.

Not even a whack in the noggin?

Here is the first question, what are you trying to accomplish?

trying to run it off of an aftermarket ECU? Doing it for fun? etc...

There are many ways to alter the signal output, most notably by changing the tooth count on the actual wheel itself. What is the current pulse per revolution count for the LT1 engine? and what resolution do you need?
