Default How are the polished calipers holding up?

How long have you had polished calipers and how are they holding up, any staining, is the clear coat spray paint starting to flake off, are they a pain to clean.

Just wondering before I dump money/time into this.

I used zoop seal on mine and the only thing i have is water spots, i have yet to really try to get them out. I will tell you however that the chrome look of them as soon as they were finished being polished as definitly faded but you can tell from very far they are polished and done well. I haven't had a chance to super detail my car and thus attention to my brake calipers is lacking. I plan on using mild abrasive cleaners to remove the water spots, if that doesn't work than i will use specific metal cleaner to remove water spots. I think a clear coat spray will diminish the shine greatly and eventually will heat up enough to flake off. I was debating chroming my calipers but i don't know how they will hold up afterwards and if the heat might affect them. I mainly don't want to chrome them right now because of the PITA it is to take the calipers apart and put them back together again.

The best thing would be to have your freshly polished calipers powdercoated clear. Very strong and heat resilient.

Doesn't when you clear coat them your polished look fade?

I know I polished my caliper brackets and they absolutely SUCK! they have began to rust.... which I guess that was expected it being metal and all.

Well the brackets and the calipers are 2 different types of metal, the calipers are aluminium and will not rust, whereas the brackets are steel and of course will rust unless plated. People find that out the hard way. Mine are chrome plated.

You have to pay constant attention to anything polished, which might be in contact with the "elements"!
