Zune to Alpine CDA-9856
I need some help. I have been on the internet all morning looking on how to hook up my 120 GB Zune to my Alpine head unit.
There is a connector from Alpine for a Ipod, but not a Zune. There is no Aux in or head phone jacks on the this unit either. The only way so far I have got it to work is threw the Xm radio signal. Un plugging the XM and plugging it in to the head phone jack on the Zune.
Does anyone make like a connector that goes from Ipod to Zune so I can hard wire it in?
Thanks

No, there is an alpine AInet to AUX that you can hook up. It was about 13 dollars on ebay but i dont think Im gonna use it because the cable is so short I dont think it would reach from behind the HU to the front.. plus I found an ipod so Im just going to keep that in the car all the time and use the cable the HU came with

i run a zune with a rockford fosgate headunit. its very easy to do and you can pick up what you need at radio shack. you need a cable the has rca's to headphone jack. the only thing is you wont be able to control the zune with the headunit. you'll have to change the songs on the zune. here is what im using.

But don't the RCA cables have to go to a AUX in correct. The head unit only has out no ins.
If that connector above off ebay then to a the radio shack thing may work. Dunno.

Ok I went and bought the cables to get this Zune to play and now the Head unit will not go to AUX. It only flips between the Radio and CD. THis is getting really old.
I bought the cable that plugs into the back of the radio, also bought the rca to head phone cable. Plugged it all in and the stupid head unit will not switch to AUX
I read in the owners manual that all you have to do is push the source button and it will switch, but it does not. only between the Radio and CD
NO error messages either, just won't switch
found the switch under the radio to switch it over to intercept the signal for the Zune. Is there a universal channel to use. 87.7 is the best so far, but can not turn the radio above VOL. 4 due to static. Zune is playong on VOL 20.

Press Menu...... Use the track advance button till the display says AUX In....Turn the rotary **** till it says on.....press Menu again. If you dont do that the AUX will not show in the function menu.... well at least thats what it looks like using the Manual PDF from Alpine's web page.

Ok I did that and it will play on AUX, but the volume sucks. It is maxxed out on the zune and maxxed out on the player, and you can barley here it. It only sounds like it is coming out of the the froont door speakers, and the front tweeters. The only time you can here it is with the car at idle. The car is not loud at all either.
Is there something I can do to get it to be louder? or play thur the whole car like a normal song.

Hmm I remember when I hooked up my Zune using the radio transmitter crap on the stock HU and I had the volume maxxed on the zune and it wasnt very loud but the HU put in the rest of the volume and made it decent.
It could be because of the rca connections on all that, ive never used them to hook up an aux, too many dif wires where quality is lost. I would almost guarantee it wouldnt be like that if you just had the AInet>Aux hookup but I dono I didnt even hook up mine

The Zune's output is really dependent on the volume the song was recorded.... Better off having the zune at like 17 and raising the volume on the Deck. Thats just my experience playing my Zune audio and Video through my Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD

Then after you have that plugged in. You need to buy the RCA adapter that plugs into the Ai-net cable. Then plug it into the Zune. Switch the source to AUX and listen away.

NO, you have to do what I just did. Look at the post with the link to ebay, buy that cable. That cable plugs into the Ai-net plug in the back of the radio.
