This car (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=255796689&dealer_id=63322287&car_year=2005&rdm=1230572931696&model=GTO&num_records=100&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=2000&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=8+Cylinder&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=100&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=PONT&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=28027&advanced=y&end_year=2010&doors=&transmission=Manual&max_price=&cardist=101) was on my local auto trader results. It's kinda up there in milage but not that bad, but for that cheap it seems like it may have been wrecked. Im gonna be calling the dealership to ask, but i was just wondering what you guys thought of it. Also evidently someone replaced the tail lights with the 06 ones which makes me think this car was probably modded at least a little bit at one point.

I think something may be fishy, or they just can't get rid of a V8 powered car right now....its even a 6 spd, thats incredibly cheap to me.

yeah i know gto prices are headed south but this is much lower than a lot of others i've seen. if it's in good shape though i may bite after a carfax report and talking to the dealer. if they could throw in a 1 year warranty or something for a little piece of mind.

I'd snatch it up if its clean/you can get the warranty report.....take the vin over to ls1gto.com there is a person there that will run a GM service report and let you know what was done to it at the dealers.

just talked to the guy on the phone said there aren't any issues. it was originally listed at 16,999 which isn't that low, but he said he got no calls, reduced to 15,999 same thing. Now he says he gets calls all the time about the car. im gonna have someone look up the vin over at ls1gto and find out more, but if this is for real then it looks like a bargain. where do i go over on ls1 gto to have someone look up the vin?

Heres a link (http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5100117#post5100117) looks like a pretty big service report, and a lot of stuff was done really starting in 2008. what o you guys think, is this normal wear and tear for a car with 40k miles? and does that one listing say the entire engine was replaced?

Check for flood damage. I have seen about 10 GTO's that were damaged during katrina. No joke

yeah i guess i'd need to run a carfax as well, but at this rate it's not lookin good for this car, either it was a real dud when it left the factory or this thing has had the shit run out of it.

run a carfax for sure but it sounds like maybe there was an oil consumption issue the owner didn't monitor and it took out multiple items....take it for a spin, run the carfax, take both carfax and that service history in and knock the price down even more.

WTF is this saying that it had two engines within 500 miles of each other replaced?

yeah, like 10 days apart too, that would make me take a REAL hard look at a Carfax and also know where the car had all the work done at, i.e. what state/s, that flood damage post above might be more true than one would think.

It;s not flood damage the parts replaced are not typical of flood damage.

I would buy it.. Its a good deal ,as long as it doesen't have flood damage. Talk it for a ride and check it out.
