Do you mean hard top as in like the G6 hard top vert where the whole top collapses into the back? I dont think there is anything like that for fbodies. If you mean something like a removable hard top, you might be able to find someone to fab something up for you. I always thought that would be cool, but it would be very expensive.

I don't think he is talking about a foldable hardtop, just a hardtop piece. Similar to this, but not for a Miata?

I think having one would be cool too, especially with t tops. Haha instant conversion from vert to coupe/t top whenever you want! There actually might be a sponsor who would be up for it. Hes concentrating right now on making coupe wings/trunks for the verts. Ill shoot him a pm and tell him about the page.

Something like this is possible to be done. It would have to be along the same lines as the Miata top or the hardtop for the jeeps.

Personally i would think that it should be made from metal and not fiberglass so it would have to be done by a different supplier.

I can look into something like this it is very interesting, but also poses a lot of challenges.

1. Securing the rear of the top (under the trunk lid like the covers)
2. Universal fit for both Trans Am's and Camaros (a must for production reason)
3. Sealing - mainly from the trunk to the side windows (see #2)
4. Sourcing - finding the same latching system manufacturer, custom sheet metal, head liner etc...
5. Hooking up the rear defroster
6. T-top (although I love em) most likely would not be feasible it leaves no structural integrity for the top or mounting point for it. A sunroof would be more realistic.

And finally Price vs. cost. Anything can be made, for a price.

A Miata top runs $2250 (plus 200-400 for paint)
Jeep hardtops run about the same.

^^^ I agree it would be tricky but id buy one regardless if it runs 2200 or more. Mustangs, miatas, corvettes, s2000s all have them the fbody should too.

Honestly, for that price I wouldnt buy one. Maybe a grand, but more than that is too much. Then again thats my opinion and I'm in FL.. no clue what a real winter can do to the top.

The vettes I've seen all have hoists that can lift and install them with one person.

Sh@t its going to cost me 1500 just to replace the cloth top with window glass thats going to probaly need to be replaced again in 5 to 10 years. a removable hardtop would save me money in the long run.

I'll buy one! Especiallynif it makes our verts look cooler than the t-tops!
