Default Do I need to kill myself? Please check!

Ok this sucks *****, I rebuilt my ls1 958 miles ago and I thought I did a good job putting it together and breaking it in, Im really not hard on it or anything and it was running seamlessly and still is, but f***! Today I started hearing a really faint very high pitched whine. I am hoping it isn't.... a... *gulp*... a... a clevite bearing inside the engine. I checked my torque specs/tolerances ect so I am hoping it isn't but man, any comments?

Might be one of your accesories, Alt. etc. or even a idler pulley bearing...yank the belt and see if it goes away. Its worth a try...

Clevite bearings are very good bearings . I use them in all my engine builds. A whine does not sound like a bearing. Most whines comes from some type of pump, like a power steering pump , oil pump , if your automatic it could be the tranny pump or torque converter. And even your alternator can cause a whine, belts also. Hows your oil pressure ? Most of the time it you have bearing problems you will have a knock and a drop in oil pressure.
