Need help quick with overlays/ changing interior color to blue.
I am now officially in the process of changing my interior to blue. i removed my headlight switch bulb, soldered in a blue led and resistor and wow it actually worked. I took off the factory "applique"-(new word learned from ryan at macewenmotorsports) and scratched off the red ink only where the light shines through since the black scratches off too quickly learned to be careful! and yes it was VERY time consuming. it looks real good but now i am thinking about ordering silver overlays. so what i am wondering is if i remove the stock applique-will the overlays stay on without it? if the stock applique is needed-i just remove all the ink off of the applique, apply the overlay, and then the light will only shine through the overlay correct?

I have a blue LED interior and love it. All that is left is the headlight switch, I already have the maplights, gauges, hvac, door panels, dome light, and shift selector. I just can't solder for crap. I also have white faced overlays on the gauges, and headlight switch, I have the hvac but need to trim it so that it fits right.

I think I know what you are asking. Since you scratched off some of the black you think an overlay will make it look perfect. If you were able to scratch red off and the blue shows through then the over lay should clean up any mistakes. It should work.
Good luck.
I have gone Blue Led in mine as well. But like the above I cant solder for crap so I have not done the headlight switch yet either.

You should be fine.. I did my whole interior with red leds, but then again I also have a camaro so it was easier..
My friend has a mustang and he has alike a green film on the back of all his things that light up and we are in the process of sanding it off and making his interior lights red..

thanks guys. my overlays and leds SHOULD be here tommarow. just in case my led that i bought from radioshack and the ones that are coming in arent 2 different colors. i am going to redo my headlight switch. i will take pictures as i go along. i did not order my guage cluster overlays because i am still debating on which style to buy but i am going to put blue leds in my shift selector, hvac (obtained a black defrost button from camaro), and redo my headlight switch. (blue leds in steering wheel controls as soon as i get a set of camaro ones since they are black not gray). i am putting white leds in my door handles and map and dome lights. after all this is done there will still be one challenging feat. the foglight switch! i like the factory one and dont want an aftermarket but i may not have a choice. i took the factory switch apart and found that the plastic piece that lights up red is so small that i have no ideas on how to go about changing it.

if you pull off the headlight switch **** you will see that behind it, it is solid black. you cannot see the clear plastic piece that lights everything up. therefore without some imagination and very clever way of wiring up another led into the actual ****, your SOL. in addition-the **** is designed to not light up like the HVAC ***** so you would of course have to pick one of those up along the way also.

I used the B8 series LED twist lock lamp for mine. I then cut it apart and used the resitor and bulb in it then soldered it so it would work. But since they have the NeoWedge id get one of those... I might pick one of those up.
