how long can i expect these to last on a dd on the road?

nittos last the longest out of the dr's expect 7-9 k ...BFG's , M/T's and Hossiers will last 2-5 k depending on your right foot ...a street tire will last much longer, dr's are ment to grip hard and are very soft

I get about 10K, but I'm not very aggressive with the gas.

I've seen people get 15K out of them. But of course this was the same guy that got 9K out of a set of Mickey's and they still had tread left on them!

I've got 8-9k on my 275 Nittos right now, and they've still got a decent amount of life left. I'm not exactly easy on them. I don't do big smokey burnouts. But, I do my fair share of spinning tires. I would keep running them, but I've got some 315 Nittos coming for my 17x11's.

there is no comparison between the nittos dr's or even the regular 555's vs the falkens. i have the 451's and when i had em on the back of the car before i got the nittos they had absolutely no grip at all and would judt light up at even a 1/4 throttle.
do waste you cash on the falkens.
if you want regular tires go with the regular 555's
i have the dr's now and i have about 4k on em and they still look newer and they hook a lot better than a street tire.

I was speaking to a guy from Discount Tire Direct and he said the 555R DR's are not good for long distant driving? He said they heat up to quick and will wear out very quickly and are terrible in the rain?? He thought the invo was a better tire for someone that would drive a car as a DD??? Does anyone have actual experience with the Nitto invo or the 555R II Extreme? I'm running Mich. Pilot Sports right now and they hook like crap! The fronts are still real good so i'm looking at replacing just the rears. I'm going to get a Nitto, but which one? 555R Dr's....555R II Extreme.....invo?

555R II are for road racing cuz they have a stiffer sidewall. That is all.

555R are perfect for a DD f-body with bolt-ons..end of story

OK, When Nitto DR's are brand new they are actually pretty damn good in the rain. Once they get to half life they become noticably "different". They arent as good as new but still not that bad. At 3/4's life they become pretty damn tricky. I consider 3/4's life once you reach the wear bar because you still got enough tread life for dry conditions. On the highway in the rain at 3/4 life just sucks. My car cant go more then 50 MPH because when I accelerate the back starts to loosen up. Traction is great in dry conditions though. Its not as good as a bfg or anything in dry but way better overall. Handling is also surprisingly awesome. Mind you I was running a 285/35/18. On a 16" wheel the handling was like any other 16" it was pretty sloppy compared to the 18. As far as long distance driving, I drive 46 mile's each way to work and I got about 13k miles on them and there still on the car. I need new ones but only because they are absolutley horrible in the rain right now.

I've been running the Nitto DR year round on the LS1 cars I've had forever. They can last 10-15k depending on how much you spin them.

My first set lasted a decent amount longer and I even did alot more burnouts with them, but I was only bolt-ons and the car would hook good from a roll even in 1st gear during the summer months.

With heads/cam I find they get hazed over alot even when they aren't spinning excessively. It's just enough to take the life span down a bit. I have about 10k on my current set and it's time to replace them, although they aren't 100% slick like the last set I ran pictured below.....

My last set got around 9k but it had quite a few burnouts on them!

How about the cornering on the 555 DR's... does the side wall flex alot? I know you can't have both, good cornering tires and tires that hook good, so what is the best tire for hooking and average cornering? Just trying to find a good tire recommendation from seasoned drivers so i don't spend money testing tires myself. Plus it's winter here, and i got the time to spend on the computer getting everyone's opinions, cheaper that way

My 285/35/18's cornerd amazing, as good if not better then my GS-D3's.
